From a nutritional standpoint, does V8 juice do anything helpful? Or does the pasteurization kill any good nutrients? Is there a benefit to drinking V8 or should someone stick with juicing frest, living foods?
It’s actually a good thing for those that have problems getting fruits and veggies in their diet.
JB recommended V8 in one of his Appetite for Construction articles, as he found many people (even those “in the know” about nutrition) weren’t getting the necessary veggies.
From JB’s personal experience, he stated how he “felt” a lot better the more often he consumed fruits and veggies.
He did agree that making your own homemade V8 juice is best, but the stuff you find in the store will work.
I personally enjoy V8, but it contains around 1000mg of sodium per 8oz serving!
Joe
low sodium V8 is actually pretty good
Sodium isn’t a big deal anyway.
Unless you have a medical condition that requires limiting Na intake, like HBP, don’t worry about it.
As mentioned, V8 is good for those having trouble getting in their veggies. HOWEVER, if you buy frozen mixed vegetables and throw them in the microwave for three minutes you’re set. I also buy bagged salads (spinach spring mix) as I’m too lazy to make my own.
