Congrats on your progress, Sting!

I do have to say that PSlave is making it a little harder than it needs to be. A shake is a shake, just make it with 2 scoops and be done with it. I wouldn’t monkey around with .5 servings, 1.5, etc. Are you worried you’ll get too much protein? The calorie requirements aren’t that stringent.[/quote]
If I remember correctly, the point was to get as close to your minimal and maximum limits, respectively, as possible.
In terms of the 1/2 serving, that’s mostly just personal preference… I do the 1/2 serving pre-walk so that I can go in as close to a fasted state as possible without working about muscle degradation. That certainly isn’t necessary for everyone, but that’s what works best for me…
However, you are correct in that it doesn’t need to be complicated. That being said, not everyone can do 2 scoops per shake… it all boils down to personal caloric requirements.

I was thinking about doing the 1 scoop shakes either 1 or 2 times per day, just to keep feeding my body every 2-3 hours or so. At my bodyweight, I am allowed 4 shakes on non-training days and they would be spread out so far, that I would only have one about every 4 hours.
Today is Day 3. I feel like absolute shit.
Had a tough time sleeping last night so took some benadryl around 1 am. Slept til 6:30. I’m groggy as hell today. I hate that benadryl makes me feel so cloudy the next day.
Hunger is high, it will be a rough day, I can tell already. Just have to keep plugging along. It is encouraging to see others post such rapid results. Helps with my motivation.
Day 3 for me too, woke up multiple times last night to pee. Got in scale, down 7 pounds in 2 days, I realize that’s mostly water and stomach contents. Feeling lethargic but moods are better. Hardly any apetite, having to force myself to eat.

How skinny are you that you can only have 4 shakes in a day? That’s like only 900 calories, plus not much more from the other supps? You should have a minimum of 5 shakes, 1 every 3 hours, regardless of your weight. Getting the 200g of protein is more important that worrying about those extra couple hundred calories. You won’t lose any fat if you are starving yourself- just 100% muscle. There is no way you will keep your muscle if you aren’t eating enough.

Take ZMA if you are having trouble sleeping. I personally guarantee you that you will not succeed at the V-Diet if you don’t get enough sleep. You really need at least 7-8 hours a night, 6 minimum, preferable uninterrupted. This will help your stress levels and keep you focused on the diet.

I calculated a min of 1200 and a max of 1500. Each shake is 220 and then a serving of flax is 50 so each shake with flax is 270. Multiply by 4 and you get close to 1200. Add in some fish oil caps and viola.
i messed up 1 day on the diet, just one. i dont think that 1 day is going to lead me not losing an x amount of bf. from now on im going strict. the only reason i had some chicken was b/c it was faster than throwing stuff in a blender. the chicken is already grilled, so i just opened the package and ate some.
today is day 9 for me. yesterday was tough, my gfs fam was eating pizza, roast chicken, and mashed potatoes yesterday so i had to get outta there fast

First - you may be too skinny to do the V-Diet. Be aware if you don’t have a lot of weight to lose, you won’t lose much and it will come off slow.
Second- Four 270 cal shakes is only 1080 calories, not 1200. 270x5 = 1350, which is more where you ought to be.
What are your stats and show me your calculations? It may seem trivial to go through it again, but if you aren’t eating enough the diet will fail. It also may be why you are feeling like shit. You shouldn’t feel that bad on the V-Diet.

Couple things. People on this board, including myself, have a low tolerance for excuses. None of us are perfect, mind you, but it’s easy to criticize. Don’t let us bother you or detract from your goals. How’s the weight loss going by the way?
Next- why are you making all of your Metabolic Drive shakes in a blender? I’ve been using Metabolic Drive religiously for over 4 months now and I have yet to use a blender once. I just use a standard shaker cup. It can’t be any quicker, and it mixes so easily you barely have to shake it. I guarantee you it is faster than eating pre-cooked chicken, or at least just as fast.
Don’t be concerned about the meal at your gfs house. If you ate anything just chalk it up to your solid meal of the week and move on.
Today is day 16 for me - completely as prescribed by the article w/ no cheats, bars, substitutions, etc. I wanted to lose some weight (lost 9lbs in 14days so far), but also wanted to test my will power.
I’ve always prided myself on mental toughness and I thought this would be a nice challenge. I must say that it’s been more difficult than I originally imagined. I’ve also added things like going grocery shopping and cooking dinner for the wife just to make it more difficult.
I have about 7 days left as I’m just going to exhaust my current supply of Metabolic Drive before calling it quits. I really don’t think there are many people who can make it through this diet as prescribed…
man i feel like crap today. i lifted a little today but wasnt feeling it at all.
i didnt eat anything at my gfs house, i refused to.
i use a blender b/c it just tastes better to me. i did 2 days of hte diet with just stirring it up in a cup and downing it(only thing i had at work) and it tasted like crap. the ice cold shake in a blender is just tastier to me.
im down 7 lbs in 9 days, not bad. im starting to see my abs too. i took pics on day 2 (only time i could take them) and i will take pics on my 28th day, just to show everyone my progress. i got a basketball game later, so im going to rest right now and try to get some energy

Ok here goes.
I am 5’5" 155#. i know that would be considered skinny to most, and it is, but I at 16% BF and would like to get a lot lower before I start to bulk up considerably. The problem with being so short is that small amounts of fat gain show a LOT. Plus a lot of discussion has been tossed around that says if you start a bulk in a leaner state, you will stay leaner throughout the bulk.
Anyway
At 155 here is my calc.
Non training days
(10.2*155) + 879 = 2460 * 0.5 = 1230
training days
(10.2*155) + 879 = 2460 * .6 = 1476
4 shakes with flax are 1080 then add in fish oil caps which are 9 cal per cap. 15 caps would give an extra 135 kcal which gives 1205
Seems right to me? YOu may want to check it to make sure I didn’t make an error somewhere

Wow. 5’5" and 155#? And you need to do the V-Diet to lose weight?? Just kidding. I completely understand about those last few trouble areas and wanting to lean out once and for all prior to a bulk. Based on your stats your calcs are spot on.
Keep in mind you are only carrying about 24# of fat- total. If you lose even 10# of fat you’ll be at 9%BF. So basically don’t expect to lose much fat on the V-Diet. 15# overall weight loss would be perfect for you. That would be about 8# fat, 4# water, and maybe 3 or so pounds of “other”, including tissues, muscle and non-muscle, and blood. That sounds weird, but if you weigh less your body stores less blood as it’s just not needed. I imagine you’ll end up close to, or just under 10%BF if you can tough it out the full 4 weeks.
By the way- Do you have any muscle under that 16% to show off when you get there?
Good luck!

Three solid no cheat weeks is still an accomplishment! Good job! 9lbs in 14days is excellent. That’s just about right. You should end up around a 13lb loss for the three weeks, and you will probably only gain a couple as you transition off, if any.
Will power is the key to this one. I’ve done it twice and crashed and burned the first, the second went much better. I only lost 6 lbs the first one. I cheated a few too many times, even though it seemed ok at the time. The second I lost 18lbs and haven’t gained a pound since, in fact I’ve lost another 3-4 on T-Dawg since.
Good luck with the last week and let us know how you did!

Well I normally wouldn’t do the v-diet, but an opportunity to go to jamiaca may have presented itself to me recently, and I figured now was the perfect time to try the v-diet for the first time, so i can go as lean as possible. I have planned on doing it for a while, just wasn’t planning on doing it now, we’ll see how things go over the next few weeks.
Muscle, yeah there is some. Not as much as i would like, but thats another reason to do this now, so i can get lean and then return to a clean bulk starting out at low BF. As i mentioned, it is tought to bulk when you are short because fat gain shows really easily. Besides, I think I will actually look bigger once I remove some of the fat.
I’ve done ZMA off and on for years with moderate success. I’m currently on it. I’ve got a lot of liquid flowing through me between the shakes and over a gallon of water per day. I got over 10 hours last night, just not steady.
As for the stress it’s more from external sources, I’ll just say it’s a weird phase in my life and other things are kind of on hold, but that makes this a better time to do such a radical diet. Got some potential good news on job/school front today so the moods elevated some there. Strength coming back on bench today despite the weight loss so felt better there. Tommorow I move furniture for cash. We’ll see how that goes.
Let me explain the Surge thing. The Surge is 350 calories, and the fish oil is 210. You swap out the Surge for the fish oil and that gives you the extra 140 calories on your training day.
While the caloric equation in Shugs article was good, I think it may have dipped a little bit too low for some people. There are people on the diet drinking 1200 calories or even less!! You can definitely afford the extra scoop or two when things are that low, hell it might even help.

So you think adding in an extra serving of Metabolic Drive would be useful?
