V-Diet Progress

I think what he is saying is that if you start adding in one meal a day it’s not the V-Diet. That’s about it. He’s not say what you’re doing want be effective though he’s right, if you read though the original V-Diet support thread you’ll see that a lot (not all) of the people that tried to mess with the parameters were not as successful.

If it is too demanding just shorten the time frame. Do 2-3 weeks instead of 4 and then switch to your modified diet. If I lose much more than 4 lbs this week I will probably switch to my modifications.

Oh, as far as your sleep issues. Try taking some Benedryl. It works well.

As a side note; we went to Outback last night. I had a vinerette salad, a steak and steam veggies. It was fucking good. I can’t remember the last time I finished a whole salad especially one with out crutons.

good luck man. i did the V-Diet in the past with decent success (lost a fair amount of muscle along with fat) and i will be trying it again soon as part of the beast evolves protocol CT laid out. I will say, even though it might be necessary to stay sane, the meal does slow progress.

good luck

btw, are you using a PWO shake? If so what ratio are you using and how many calories. I cant remember if i used a PWO shake with my V diet but i definitely want to this time around and i didnt see Shugart’s protocol in the VDiet 2, although he says he did use one.

Yes, I posted previously that I’m using Surge (2 scoops) after my weight training. I just had some today. My work out went like this:

Squats 6 x 3 305

Decline BB Press 4 x 6 185
Seated Rows 4 x 6 160

Skull Crushers 4 x 6 95
Standing BB Curls 4 x 6 75

Abs…

I cut the volume on the squats so that I could keep bumping up the weight and keep (hopefully) from losing any muscle. I had talked with Chad previously and he had suggested that I maybe use a 6 x 3 instead of 8 x 3 while short on cals. I couldn’t make it to the gym so I could weigh myself of take my %. Maybe that’s good since I just had my “big” meal yesterday.

Cool to see that there are some other folks who have started the Velocity Diet. I’ve re-read the diet, the blog, and the support group threads thinking to start a new one when I see that Scottish already has!

Basic stats:

Height: 6’
Weight: 226
BF: 23.5%

I started on Saturday and have lost 4 lbs already, so off to a good start, even if it’s only water. My goal is to get to 190 lbs which should bring me to about 10% body fat, but that will need to be re-evaluated when I’m there. With 36 lbs of fat to melt, I’m thinking of doing the diet for at least the recommended four weeks and then continue for a week or two or move to a T-Dawg 2.0 type diet.

Outside of feeling totally jet-lagged and zoned out from being back to work after a two week break, I’m doing okay. Workouts start tomorrow.

second day of the diet, going good. not tired or anything. i was just stirring the protein in with water and choking it down, but finally got my blender back, and man! ice and blending it all together makes it sooooo much easier to drink. i started at 6’2, 225. not sure what the body fat is, but i look a lil smaller already

I have also started the Velocity Diet. I did it with a good deal of success last February. I have been in maintenance mode since coming off of a bulking phase at the end of December. Now it’s time to shed some of this fat.

I decided to log my experience this time around. While I don’t normally have too much of a problem with willpower, the V-Diet can be a bitch. This should help keep me accountable.

Stats

I will be doing the program as planned. Shakes every day. One solid meal on the weekend. I’ll be lifting full-body three times per week, five-by-five. I’ll be taking morning walks on non-training days.

Exceptions

  1. I woke up this morning for my walk and saw a blizzard outside my window. The wind was knocking shit down while the heavens dropped snow at a leisurely three inches per hour. I put on my Sally-pants and went back to bed. Sue me.

  2. This Wed, Thu, and Fri, I will be doing a residency at my university. I will be having one solid meal each day – most likely a nice chicken salad.

Meal Plan
Training Days:
0530 - 1 serving of Metabolic Drive (pre-workout)
0700 - 1 serving of Surge
1000 - 2 servings of Metabolic Drive, 1.5 servings milled flaxseeds
1300 - 2 servings of Metabolic Drive, 1 serving milled flaxseeds
1600 - 2 servings of Metabolic Drive, 1 serving milled flaxseeds
1900 - 1.5 servings of Metabolic Drive, 1 serving milled flaxseeds, 1 serving Flameout

Totals: 51g fat, 93g carbs, 210g protein for 1669 calories (upper-limit requirement is 1700)

Non-Training Days:
0530 - .5 serving of Metabolic Drive (pre-walk)
0700 - 2 servings of Metabolic Drive, 1.5 servings milled flaxseeds
1000 - 2 servings of Metabolic Drive, 1 serving milled flaxseeds
1300 - 2 servings of Metabolic Drive, 1 serving milled flaxseeds
1600 - 2 servings of Metabolic Drive, 1 serving milled flaxseeds
1900 - .5 serving of Metabolic Drive, 1 serving Flameout

Totals: 51g fat, 45g carbs, 195g protein for 1414 calories (minimum requirement is 1400)

Supplements

  • ZMA
  • Alpha Male
  • Flameout
  • Maximum Strength HOT-ROX

I also decided this would be a great time to try Spike. I remember that my workouts sucked donkey-dick around week 3 last time around, so I’d really like to test-drive Spike.

I’ll be taking this opportunity to eliminate diet sodas from my life. I have a weakness for Diet Mt. Dew that should have earned me a serious flogging a long time ago. I’ll be drinking one cup of coffee per day, then switching to green tea.

Today was day one. Aside from the mistake of not buying snowshoes, skiis, and a snowmobile suit in preparation for the Return of Winter, things have been fine. Had a momentary craving for, of all things, a burger around 12:30 this afternoon, but cured that by thinking about the women that shop at Walmart.

I’ll try to post daily…

man, is it just me or does all the food commercials on tv come on right hwen someone is on the v-diet? wat r some things that you guys do to take ur mind off of food yet doesnt make u expend too many calories?

Yeah, the V-Diet drove me crazy - seeing different foods, any foods, was harder than just getting by on the shakes. Those pizza coupons wou get in the mail are food pornography about ten days into the diet…

I honestly try not to watch too much TV, although I can get sucked into the Sci-Fi and History channels every now and then, so this isn’t too much of an issue for me.

However, when I am on the couch, I typically sit and drink Crystal Light tea. It’s a welcome relief from the water. Also, my evening shake is typically blended with ice, making it a very thick pudding. That helps dull the hunger.

Doesn’t help too much with the cravings, though, in all honesty…

Man, I just got over the 24(32 really) hour flu. I’ll be honest with you. I had some chicken soup. I figured with all that I was “putting out” I could afford to take some in. I feel like my immune system is shit. I should still be up for my workout today though. I am looking pretty lean and my weight is down quite a bit. I don’t want to lose too much more so at the end of week two I’ll be switching to a carb cycling approach that CT recommended for coming of the V-Diet. I will take that opportunity to change from whole body 3 days a week to a upper/lower split with a little more “bodybuilding focus”.

Alright, call this a false start. I pulled a few muscles in my neck and traps last Tuesday, so I took the rest of the week off. Hadn’t improved by too much this morning, so I checked in with a sports doc, just to make sure. Sure enough, just a pull (thank God).

Since I can’t really lift yet, it’s definitely not a good idea to do the V-Diet at this time.

I’m going to make sure I’m back in the gymn for one or two weeks before I embark on the journey that is the VD.

Still, I’m going to stick with the elimination of diet sodas and reduction in coffee. Pulled muscles certainly aren’t an excuse not to do that!

day 3, and im going strong. im going to b doing tbt starting tomorrow. cant wait.

Bummer about the flu and muscle pull, guys. Hope you are able to recover quickly. I finished day 4 and am down over 5 lbs. Expecting the current speed of weight loss to start slowing pretty soon. Had a good workout tonight. Fucked up my shake intake, I forgot to have lunch because I had breakfast late and am catching up. Another shake before bed and I’m done for the day.

No food cravings, no hunger pangs, or major ones. The damn Easter bunny has started visiting our office leaving his fucking little eggs of temptation around the place. Easy to resist now…

Ballin’: Be carefull with the TBT. There’s is a lot of reps and volume in that program. You’ll be hard pressed to recover from all that. I’m not trying to rain on your parade I’m just saying be careful and monitor closely.

I went to the gym today. I weighed myself and had my body fat taken…3 times. I did this because my friend that usually does it came up with a number that I didn’t believe. So I had another guy I know take it and then a different guy after that. The numbers that they came up with were as follows: 12%, 11.3% and 11.7%. This is after 1 week and 2 days and only 2 days of cardio. Granted these are not DEXA or whatever but these are 3 people I know well and trust that they know what they’re doing. So that’s means I’ve lost 4% bodyfat. Needless to say I was excited. I thought I was looking leaner but that was not expected. Anyway my work out went like this:

Bench Press: 6 x 6 w/185,195,205,215,205,195

Seated Cable Rows: 6 x 6 w/130,140,150,160,160,160

Cable Flyes: 4 x 8 w/40

Rear Delt Machine: 4 x 8 w/80

Let’s hope all keeps going well…

Are you doing the morning cardio or when are you doing cardio?

Also, I apologize for not keeping up with this thread but where did you start weight wise and where are you now? I’ll be starting the V-diet in about a month an a half for a friendly contest I’m doing with some guys. I’m concentrating on adding muscle over the next month or so first.

I can’t do the morning cardio due to the triplets but I have only done cardio twice.

I posted my weight at the begining of this thread.

Good luck with your progress. I think I will try this after a few weeks of cutting my intake down. M biggest problem is that 2 hours after I go to sleep I wake up and eat anything in sight when I cut my meals down.
Keep posting your progress.

ya i was looking at it, and it looks intense, but i think ill do it after i take a shake, so i hav some energy. i play bball and workout, so that takes care of my cardio. just keep going fella’s, we can do this

day 4, and my sleep is really struggling. i ordered zma so i should be getting it soon. does anyone else hav problems sleeping? i laid in bed for 2.5 hours last night b4 falling asleep and i was exhausted throughout the day.
