Remember that the diet is also supposed to act as a sort of nutritional reprogramming tool. I am also on the V-Diet right now, and before the interview with Dan John I never even would have considered doing it, but after reading about the behavioral changes it elicits I decided to give it a shot.
I don’t know your personal situation or past experiences, but I can tell you that this diet is a lot easier to stick with than many diets that I have tried in the past. Its the perfect diet, think about it - virtually no meal prep, you don’t have to buy groceries every week, damn man you don’t even need to chew anything! Sure this is an oversimplification but looking at it this way makes not eating solid food 95% of the time a lot easier to deal with.
I also agree with eengrms76 when he said “If you give up now you’ll always wonder what would have happened in the end.” Part of the reason this diet is so great is because it’s unconventional and no one really knows how they’ll react to it until they try it. Stick with it just for the challenge if nothing else and see where it takes you.
Didn’t mean to impose on your thread, just wanted to offer another perspective.
Thanks for your thoughts on the subject. I PM’d back and forth a little with Shugart earlier today and he had some encouraging stuff to say about it. He confirmed that weight loss my slow a little bit in the second week but then will pick back up in the 3rd and 4th week. I gave him the run down of what I’ve been doing and he said that it looked fine. So I guess I may just need to stay the course and see how it ends up.
Anyone think it’s a bad idea to take Thanksgiving day off from the diet? Anyone else doing that?

Personally I wouldn’t take the entire day off, but I would plan my solid meal for the week that day. Take it a little easier than you normally would, but still enjoy the holiday. You also might want to consider some extra NEPA or light cardio that day. Hell even people who aren’t dieting should consider that.
Keep it up Hoglover! I am on day 24 and everything is going great. Besides being entirely sick of the shakes that is. Just stay the course and work on faith. Others have done it with great success. Is there a reason you are not taking the HOT-ROX?
Hey man I have slowed a bit in the second week as well. I was down 10 pounds in the first 9 days, and then have stayed steady the last couple. Stick with it, and I expect the weight loss to pick back up in week 3.

I wouldnt take it off. My plan is to use that day as my week 3 solid meal and take it easy on the potatos and stuffing.
Also, I am planning on lifting real hard right before I head over to my folks place for the meal. That way thanksgiving becomes a tasty P+C pwo meal.[/quote]
Well, I must say that this diet is getting easier and I appreaciate everyone’s encouraging words to get me through this 2nd week. I think if I remember correctly, the last time I did this diet the 2nd week was the hardest then too. I feel pretty solid though now about my ability to stick this out for another couple of weeks.
I went and bought some HOT-ROX this morning at Wal-Mart. Of course it isn’t Maximum Strength or HOT-ROX Extreme but I figure I just may up the dose since it’s the regular HOT-ROX.
Weighed in at 190 lbs. again this morning but the scale looked like it was leaning toward 189 so… maybe over the weekend or by early next week I’ll be in the 180s. I’m gonna try and step it up in the gym and maybe the HOT-ROX will start helping a little.
Looks like I hit 189 this morning! Finally broke that 190 lb. obstacle. So I guess I’m going to continue on with this diet plan. Thanks to all for pushing me through week 2. I think I’ll coast from here. I’m narrowing in on 185 lbs. I’m pumped.
It’s awesome to see how many people are doing this diet. I am on the 6th day of the diet currently. I’m at about 182 right now. I was relatively lean before I started, I did the diet just to see if I had the willpower to do so. I’ve lost 7 pounds so far in 6 days. It’s awesome.
Yesterday was my first cheat meal. It consisted of a sweet potato rice and a 20 oz T-bone. very awesome.
WE’RE DONE! Troy and I start transitioning off today. I’m sure he’ll jump on later and tell you his total results. I do know he’s down 18.5 lbs and he lost somewhere between 8-10% bodyfat.
For me, I’m down 10lbs and 3.3% bodyfat. While not alot, it’s HUGE for me. I think I explained that since I’m on anti estrogens post breast cancer, my docs didn’t expect me to lose anything. Wait until they see me in 2 weeks!!!
Total inches lost were 16.1 and I actually gained .58 lb.
I hope you’re still doing well on this, I’m holding you accountable to the 28 days!!! If I can do this, anyone can.

You rock girl! And tell Troy congrats on his progress as well. Ya’ll did great.
I finally broke the 190 barrier over the weekend and weighed in this morning at 187 lbs. So that’s around 8 lbs. now. My goal is to get down into the 170s. We’ll see how realistic that is. I’m not sure how much BF I’ve lost, as I didn’t measure before starting the diet but I do look noticeably thinner in the mirror and my clothes are all fitting much looser.
I finally started taking some HOT-ROX late last week and it may possibly be making a difference. Who knows.
HOT-ROX got me thru this, I’m sure of it. I love the stuff. I’m really glad you decided to put out the extra few $$ to go get yourself some.
Broke the 190 mark! YOU GO!!! I’m also glad to hear you’re looking thinner to yourself in the mirror. Most times we’re our worst critics and can’t see the results.
I would do Thanksgiving as Thanksgiving because there are some things bigger than our waistline reduction programs.
Certainly, use this as your meal day, but a nice feast might just be the ticket for accelerating fat loss the next week. I found that eating a lot was nearly impossible anyway. My “feast” finish was Practice Thanksgiving and I at two full plates of veggies before I touched turkey or mashed potatoes…
Hang in there. Just for bragging rights alone it is worth finishing…
Bro…(Mr. John) you rock for posting to my thread. I appreciate your encouragment and advice. Sweet, now I’ll feel ok about bingeing or attempting to on Thanksgiving day! Wooo Hooo… Yea, I’m feeling pretty good about finishing this deal strong.

Man… what a week this is going to be. Today has already started off with a Thanksgiving potluck at the office and then meeting my wife at MiMi’s Cafe and watching she and a couple of other friends eat that awesome freaking food. It’s all good though. I came back to the office and popped a few HOT-ROX and had a shake (Mmmmm… way better than MiMi’s Hibachi Salmon for sure).
