today i set a PR for myself deadlifting (350x8) but now my left upper trap is bothering me whenever i turn my head to the left. has this happened to anyone before? i used a over under grip for 4 of them after my grip started to fail after 4 reps overhand.
Hey man this should not be a problem. This has happened to me on more than one occasion but has never lasted more than a day or two at most. Take a anti inflamatory and very slow light stretching heat and cold treatment will help you out. Good PR by the way congrats.
thanks for the advice
I had the same thing happen to me from my last PR: 365x7. My trap was painful for a couple of days. I think it’s mostly due to the over/under nature of the grip. Apart from only using double overhand grip and therefore deadlifting more often, I don’t know what else can be done to remedy this situation.
Do more upper back work.
It is not because of the grip you used. It is because you are pushing a boundary. Pulls and strains are part of progress.

Never a bad idea.
