Underrated Bodybuilders Past & Present

Someone posted a pic of Chet Yorton in his 60’s and it got me thinking about bodybuilders that looked great but for some reason you just don’t hear about them.

So what bodybuilders do you think don’t (or didn’t) seem to get their fair shake? Here are some off the top of my head:

1960’s

Don Holworth.

He may have gotten some press in his time but you don’t hear much about him when people talk about the golden age.

1970’s

Robbie Robinson.

I loved Robbie’s lats although some think they are too high. Just good overall symmetry. Plus he always seemed like the quiet reserved type. Class act.

late 80’s early 90’s

Aaron Baker.

Whatever happened to this guy? He was great, like Flex. Damn WBF :frowning:

First name that came to mind was Don without a doubt, he’s a favorite of mine from that era. It’s Howorth though… see the guy still gets no respect lol

How about every single bber today, that doesn’t have the HGH guts?

Wish I had that kind of shoulder width. Gotta keep workin’ on it. And no, I refuse to switch to the three-day split in order to get it.

Chris Dickerson never seemed to get the respect I think he deserved. I always thought he had one of the most complete physiques ever. certainly not a mass freak, but its hard to find a weak spot.

Maybe not so much underrated, but perhaps forgotten for what he brought to the iron game. Clarance “Clancy” Ross

Good thread, i like seeing these “old timers.” these guys are solid.

well, he was Mr. O.

Thierry Pastel. i don’t think he ever won an ifbb contest

harold poole

Great thread. Lets get some real good pics up to inspire to more realistic goals. I’ll see what I can find.

I always thought Paul Jean_Guillaume had one of the best physiques I have ever seen. He was extremely strong as well.

Sorry, here’s another pic of poole. not sure why the other one got cropped

Larry Samuel

Matt Mendenhall

Matt Mendenhall

Yes, Matt Mendenhall was AWESOME!

Never got to pro status, unfortunately.

Check him out on vid:

Edgar Fletcher. one of the best to never go pro

well, he was Mr. O.[/quote]

True, but when discussions about the Mr. O start up, you rarely hear anybody mention Dickerson. I just think its cool that he won the Mr. O at the age of 43.

Wholeheartedly agree with the choice of Harold Poole.
