This is fascinating stuff. This thread is an example of a speck of gold in a mountain of manure in this or every other sub-forum. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
It actually doesn’t shock me in the least. We’re FAR from knowing everything there is to know about the human body.
I suspect that this new ligament may NOT exist in everyone; just as there are deviations in other parts of the anatomy.
A few examples in such deviations would include:
a) not everyone has the sciatic nerve going through the piriformis
b) not everyone has a psoas minor
c) some individuals actually have a sixth lumbar vertebrae
