(Un)official 2026 T-ransformation Challenge

These have been fantastic updates! It seems like, typically, at this point we are mostly saying “kinda flubbed January; time to buckle down.” This year it’s a bunch of wins and progress - great momentum!

Pretty much my update and how I feel as well!
Haven’t kept up with logging last week on here but have started a half marathon prep that will end in beginning of May so perfect timing for the transformation challenge as well! Will be the longest distance I’ve run!

Will post a program update in my log soon!

Physique looks a little bit leaner but I haven’t actually stepped on the scale yet.

TIME TO BUCKLE DOWN!!

I wouldnt say I flubbed it but I definitely left myself a lot of runway for ways to improve

But for real, even not being anywhere near 100% strict, If I can repeat January 4 more times I’ll be in a very good spot. I think I’m down 4-5 pounds and 1.5” on the waist

For the record, I did this, but it sucked more than last time and took longer, which is a trend point in the wrong direction…

Ok I do have something of substance to post now. For the past like 3 months I’ve been having to hammer squat variations and train my posterior chain a lot because of knee and hip bullshit. These past 2 weeks I could actually touch a straight bar again and I did this:

Pretty happy to have this as a starting point

Things on my end are going good. January has been a long month and I had a period there where I had my son for 2.5 weeks so for that time I was only training at home aside from one day lol. Still getting used to the new gym and the equipment there vs my old gym but all is good.

This morning, I’m down 4.2lbs for the month. Not as far along as I’d hope, but moving in the right direction. I have to travel for work next week, and then I’m going to Vegas for 4 days later in February, so I really have to stay on top of things next month.

Good luck man. I am traveling in February too. Going to Universal Studios for my son’s winter break. Should be interesting on the diet front. :face_with_peeking_eye:

We are more alike than I knew! I’m 6’5" and down to 106.3kg by your metric system (down 11 lbs). My goal is 102 but I might go to 100 to give myself a buffer.

I’m 41 and also took on dry January but I owe some days. I’m a teacher and we were on break til January 5th so I extended my indulgence through the weekend after January 1st. Guess I’ll call it officially over next weekend but still haven’t decided how to proceed. There’s a series called Landman with Billy Bob Thornton here. He’s a recovering alcoholic but drinks Michelob Ultras. Someone ask him why he was drinking that if he quit and he said it didn’t count because it was Michelob Ultra. He only counts whiskey. It makes me chuckle when I think about it. Maybe I can become more like that because I have been drinking lots of rum.

I had to look back at your photo entry to see how we compared in terms of where our weight is carried. As I suspected, your legs are jacked. It’s hard to believe otherwise when your name refers to playing rugby. That has to be one of my favorite sports that I’ve never played.

Let’s keep the progress going!

@doogie @shaneinga I logged ~200 overnights last year, and gained a bunch of weight; the struggle is real. Good luck!

Good thing is I should be walking 20k steps a day. If I don’t eat like an a hole I should be alright.

That was my problem for sure

After my three year long strength block, my body is pretty beat up, so I have been less consistent than I would like so far.

However, I have written a great program and am thinking it could be the unofficial sequel to Mark Rippetoe’s program.

I am thinking of calling it “Abandoning Strength”

Grabbed a cheap Amazon dip/pull up combo. Its not super sturdy but im excited to have it. I was looking through old logs and lots of dips and vertical pulling used to be a mainstay in my routine when i was my strongest. Now i can finally do that again.

I hit that point mid-month when I breached (pun intended) 155 lbs. Have spent the rest of the month trying to reverse course and establish a downward BW trend.

Two peas in a pod!

I didn’t mind dry January by replacing drinking with some sugar free soft drinks. Won’t be able to keep that up throughout Feb though.

I’ve done the same thing. I guess the next step is to cut back on that. I’m still undecided on how to proceed. As we clarified before I started this in my log, there’s really no argument in favor of drinking alcohol, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t impacting some areas of my life.

Down around 3kg’s here, running keto atm with the mrs. Miss carbs!

Belt a bit looser that the start of the year so that’s a bonus.
