@EmilyQ yeah it’s something that I’ve never focused on after a big weight drop in the past. Tracking calories, while a pain in the ass, is a very unappreciated part of this, as is to not continue reducing calories forever to drop a few more pounds. Weighing yourself can help too- I think for me if I gain 5 or more pounds back I know I have to tighten things up again for at least a week.
That is a massive drop, amazing!
What an effort! Now I hope you celebrate a little and maintain where you are.
Deff progress mate. Well done
Should be very happy mate, well done.
Went for @T3hPwnisher bruces Randall award but I suck at gaining a lot of fat so there’s that
Start: 175
Finish: 190
Not too much change but holy crap I’ve set a lot of prs and I look way better in person (been getting a lot of compliments on how I look in person). If you’ve followed my log, you know it’s been one hell of a ride since January and because of that the progress I’ve made I’m extremely happy with. Still going to push up to 200lbs slowly.
Lots of amazing stuff going on here, but I just gotta say: @trimtabber79 FTW!
Nice work, one and all.
You have to wait for the voting thread, sir!
My check in pics too for t-ransformation2024 > key stat BW from 68kg down to 65kg - circa 4% cut, hopefully mainly fat… but more battered and bruised and sore since starting BJJ this year too.

@TrainForPain another good challenge, and some stellar work by many many others in here. Amazing efforts.
Ok @TrainForPain it’s time to add my final update and photos.
I started this year at 89KG(196 lbs) with a plan to run Hypertrophy blocks for 12 weeks to add a little mass and then switch to some strength blocks and cut back on carbs to do a little re-comp.
After 12 weeks I was close to 93 KG (205 lbs ) and had definitely added some size. I cut out some carbs and slowly started to re-comp. My pants got looser and my belt went down a couple of notches but the weird thing is I stayed pretty close to 92KG (203 lbs).
And that’s where I finished up 92KG (203 lbs), a gain of 3KG or close to 7lbs.
I don’t know if there is a special award for old blokes who build muscle but I hope there is.
Start - 89KG (196 lbs)
Finished - 92KG (203 lbs)
Couple of flexed because I know you all like it. LOL
You, sir, have come a long way from the skinny runner
lol I have definitely changed a fair bit. Maybe it just goes to show that it is never too late.
I’ll get some pics going later today. However, back in January I was around 210ish I think, and now I’m right around 195. During the challenge I did manage to make a couple of significant upgrades to my home gym thanks to marketplace…a treadmill and a squat rack. During the first bit (up to April 11) I was focusing mostly on getting back into the swing of things with barbell work…I still don’t have a ton of weight to work with but it’s useful for now now the less. April 11 I started a mini cut, partly for the challenge but also partly for the race I did a couple weeks ago. I do have an event coming up in another couple weeks where I’ll be shirtless, so I’m still sort of dieting for that although my training is starting to shift towards my next couple of goals, and a bit of a program idea that I’m working on. During the mini cut I went into bro bodybuilding mode for the most part with training…body part split, a lot of lower intensity cardio etc…the morning of my race I was 195 on the nose. The one thing I will say is that throughout this challenge, several times at work a couple guys in particular seemed to notice a little something at least. Even last week the one guy gave me a compliment on my arms while I was lifting a box of mud. All in all the challenge was a good experience for sure
Let’s get those after pics in by Thursday!

Tried to take a photo last night. The only mirror that works for this in my house is in the boys bedroom, and I’m not about to announce to the family that I’m posting semi-nude selfies for internet strangers. Particularly when I likely both look and perform worse than I did at the beginning of this challenge.
If I can’t get a better pic before Thursday I’ll just go with it, but I’m pretty washed out by the direct sunlight in the window.
My point is to say, I’m posting the pic on principle to stay accountable. I’ll publicly own the fact that I fell short of expectations this year so far.
And I don’t have the bandwidth to bemoan that much, because the training side is just one small piece of the rest of my life, in which I have many other headwinds and bigger fish to fry.
TLDR: If you sucked at the challenge, post a finish pic anyway. It’s good fodder for next year, or even for yourself the rest of the year - still acknowledge what you look, feel, and perform like, and try to improve it.
I’m busy completely derailing my entire 6 months, but I’ll throw some up ASAP, before it gets any worse.
Scale hit 175 this morning… Hitting my stretch goal 30lbs down. My waist apparently aint what it used to be because the love handled are 35 at this weight which seems a little high, but I did lose 4 inches there too. Over all very happy with this “reset” heading into the summer training season here
you definitely should be, clear progress has been made. Well done
I suck at photos, cameras, and technology in general. And, like jdm135, there aren’t any good places in my home to take them.
Down about 10lbs from the start:
Beginning photos on left. Sorry for weird lighting:
Nice work!
