(Un)Official 2023 T-ransformation Challenge

Yay for increase in muscle mass!

Roughly speaking, 4-6 oz protein (chicken, 90/10 beef) mixed vegetables, either oats or sweet potato on workout days.

True. Not really sure how to tell the difference between the two, though. I swear I look different every time I glance in the mirror–sometimes better, sometimes worse.

Gross. But maybe.

The options are this, or eat less. You should be targetting 1lb/wk weight loss, which is 500cals per day. 1 hour LISS cardio weekly seems far more manageable than 500cals/day.

I would consider looking in the mirror less frequently, and under the same conditions each time you do. I also go based off how my clothes fit.

This happens to me based on like a cup of water or coffee or something. As much as you can just trust the process, I would.

Your dinners sound on-point!

I think I lost 6 or 7 lbs. total when I did the V-Diet; that’s nothing to sneeze at. My workouts have improved since, and I feel like I’m in a better place now (which was my goal), so I would really just keep doing what you’re doing for 12 more days and then re-evaluate. Your plan is more or less set at this point for the next two weeks, so I wouldn’t overstress the “data”.

Do you train before or after this meal?

Thank you all for the responses, especially when you’ve probably answered similar questions 14 million times.

Will do!

Yes, this exactly!

Also, I take your point about sticking it out and trusting the process. Realistically, I’m only thinking of minor adjustments at this point.

Mostly, this is all puzzling. Weight/fat loss has been anything but linear or predictable.

Train maybe an hour beforehand.

Are you eating the carbs at dinner to replenish glycogen stores in this case? What’s the intent?

I sleep and seem to recover better with some carbs. To your point, I’ve never really dialed in the perfect amount, source, or ideal timing. Something else to consider.

As a completely pointless aside: I seriously returned to the gym for the first time since college at 40–four years ago. I tried the lean gains/low carb approach for several months. I made very slow progress and chalked it up to my advancing age.

Then I tried carb cycling. The first workout after having carbs, I crushed it, relatively speaking, and thought “Holy cow! This must be what steroids feel like!”

I have lost track of updates on this thread.
But i got down to 175lb which was a goal.
And am about 18 days out from an obstacle course race.

Great to hear you hit your weight loss goal. Excited to see how you go with the race.

Even more excited to see how you rebound from this in terms of weight and strength.

Weighed in at 276.5 lbs this morning. I haven’t seen a number this low in 4 years I think.

Started my journey at 227lbs, dropped down to 215lbs and now weigh 229.5lbs.

Its been one hell of a journey and i’ve learned a lot but i am not leaner than when i started. I am stronger and wiser though. May have to swap my before and after pictures round :grinning:

Down 3kg 6.6lbs in three weeks, I expect and plan for this to slow considerably. Currently at 215lbs, I like the idea of reassessing at 200lbs but will let the mirror determine the progress, already got it in my head that I’m getting smaller! (As a former skinny dude this body image issue is something I’ll always have to contend with).
