(Un)Official 2023 T-ransformation Challenge

  • T-ransformation “contest” period: Monday, January 2 - Friday, May 26, 2023. Why weird dates? We’re going to start with the New Year’s crowd and end at the kickoff to summer (Memorial Day in the US); nobody wants to diet through kickoff weekend, so Friday it is.
  • How do I enter? You have to do TWO things:
  1. Upload a before picture (to this thread or in your log) within 96 hours (either side) of the start date - that means between December 28 - January 6. I won’t get weird about picture rules, but we need to see one shot of most of the front of your body. For dudes, that’s shirtless and at least waist up; for ladies, it’s the same with a sports bra or similar. If you’re awesome, include back and legs.
  2. Start a (or continue your current) log at the same time (you can put your pictures in here as. Please tag me (@TrainForPain) with your picture upload and use the #t-ransformation2023 in your log.
  • I will cut off “after” pictures on the end date of May 28th - no 96-hour forgiveness. We need a real deadline so I can wrap everything up. I will create a voting timeline of ~48 hours, recognizing its a weekend, so we can roll into summer with a winner!
  • If you enter, I will do my best to remind you to upload the finishing pictures as we near the end. Same deal, though, tag me when you upload. Please don’t “finish” before May 1, because that’s going to be insane for me to try to track.
  • Everyone that plays will be entered into two votes at the end, and I will send each of the two winners a bag of Surge Workout Fuel (plus whatever looks cool to me on the site then):
  1. Best transformation. This is purposefully vague, so we in the game can decide what matters to us. Maybe an already jacked person wins her first fitness competition or a beginner loses 100 lbs and runs his first 5k; we can use our own lens to judge. I will say: we tend tend to love, respect, and reward no-excuse effort.
  2. Most value contributer. This community is important to me (and I’m making the rules!); I want to see us continue to support, often with tough love, advise, and hold one another accountable. Whomever we determine is the best teammate in this thread and contestant logs will be our other winner.
  • Additionally, following the winning votes, I will set up two last polls to determine our final reward recipient. This person will be the “least transformed”. Although this seems like a downer, we’ve all been there and missed a deadline; it’s an opportunity to right your course and rededicate yourself to your goals. @T3hPwnisher has graciously offered to award this (US-based for logistical purposes) “winner” with his/ her choice of (ebook copies) Super Squats and a gallon of milk or Dan John’s Mass Made Simple and a box of PB&J uncrustables:
  1. To be eligible for this contest, the first poll will be an “opt-in” - I don’t want the fear of being called out here to keep anyone from joining the t-ransformation, so this is totally optional and you don’t have to make the call until it’s all over.
  2. I’ll then send a poll to everyone to choose the winner from amongst only those that opted in above. This won’t happen until June 1 or later, because it takes a cascade of events to set this up.

I believe that’s it. Hit me up with questions, but let’s see how many of us we can get to participate. For those of us that have family/ friends in our lives looking to make a positive change, this is a fanstastic opportunity because the playing field is completely in your favor - we’re looking for the best journey, not comparing finished products.

Ok, folks - I said I was happy to manage it and here we go:

Let’s kick off a T-ransformation challenge. I’ll come back later this week and edit this first post with some official rules, but we can throw in some quick stakes now:

  • I will personally buy (full price!) and send Surge Workout Fuel to two winners as voted by the community. I can’t promise additional prizes, but who knows?
  • The two winners, in my mind, are best transformation (as always) and most valuable participant - who keeps our community strong and all of us in the game? These two are the pillars of this site for me.
  • We’ll go January 1 to Memorial Day weekend (I’m pretty sure this is our norm, and it feels right).
  • We’ll set “commitment” dates and photo deadlines to fall within a week or so of those dates.

My ask for now:

  1. Start posting if you’re interested (this won’t be your official entry until we get photos).
  2. Tag your buds and peer pressure us all into doing it.
  3. Throw in any great ideas for rules, winners, etc., but let’s not get too far away from the spirit of this one (transformation vs. some crazy workout challenge on a day).

Hahah… I can’t even imagine what I would look like at 230! My basketball teammates would wonder why I can’t run up and down the court anymore :pleading_face:

I have a lot of things to work on right now and this will keep me motivated and I’m forward to the challenge!

Yer 230 with huge traps is probably not going to help with basketball, unless you get so strong you can score from anywhere on the court without running. LOL
