Wait a second, I didn’t watch all of it yet (Tivo’d). Matt isn’t coming back to fight?

Nope. They really didn’t delve into it very deeply at all, which I found odd.

They just had Dana saying “Matt isn’t able to come back and fight, so he won’t be continuing on”

I guess that means we won’t be seeing him again at all? I don’t know, it was kind of weird how they didn’t get specific as to WHY exactly he wasn’t able to come back…
Huh. OK… so this is the last time I’ll mention it… and Mike lost?? I agree he put up an ugly fight, but Matt can’t even continue now.

Oh well, I guess it might have been different had he fallen out DURING the actual fight and not after.

Who knows how severe Matt’s arm injury was…my guess is that since his main focus appears to be getting ready for the 2008 Olympics, he didn’t want to risk further injury so he dropped out of the show and that’s why Dana wouldn’t get into specifics about the injury.

Matt injured his arm in training, not in the fight against Mike.

Kind of sad Mike could not take advantage of a one armed fighter.

This season had four “fighters” in their 30’s.

All four fighters proved to be B.S. artists, it makes you wonder why a skilled fighter would be unsinged in his 30’s.

I don’t get it, are they:

 1. Newbies who started training when they turned 29-30?

 2. Mediocre fighters who have never faced tough opponents?

 3. Are they just past their prime?
I was wondering the same things.

I think christian and Tait not wanting to fight was a bad idea. The best is when christian is talking to dana and says “I dont want to get beat up on tv again”

At least he was honest!

At least he was honest!
…he left out the part about being a pot smoking douchbage.

Dana said Matt’s arm was really hurt, or something like that, but didn’t give any details.

My favorite part was after the fight, Shamrock was saying “This is what happens when you’re out of shape. He has no one to blame but himself.” Or maybe blame his COACH who hasn’t been doing anything to get them in shape the whole time they are there?
That’s not exactly true, I remember during an earlier episode Ken wanted to do more intense training but Kalib didn’t want to participate causing a big feud between Ken and himself, this was because Kalib already made it into the semi-finals and didn’t see the point in getting injured. I think yeah Tito is a fantastic couch, but if Kalib didn’t think his cardio was up he could’ve got on at treadmill.

Kendall deserves some respect for that great showing, and Tito is a masterful couch, every tip he gives a fighter is spot on.

Either you have the burning passion or not, and most of this crop of guys is actually quite pathetic.

I have one word for you…DANNY.

I still can’t believe that guy, “I’M A UFC FIGHTER NOW!” I mean why was a guy of such low calibur on the show besides comic relief? Ed isn’t much better, all of that talk and he barely dominated the kid.

I have a new theory, any guy who.

 1. Has kids and uses them as inspiration for fighting.

 2. Talks days and days professing their “bad-assness”.

 3. Has stories that he tells non-stop about his abilities.

 4. Talks about a burning passion.

…is going to lose everytime.

Both will never be great fighters, I don’t see the point of that at all. Why waste your time. I swear I believe the majority are there for just television time.

I think Dana is an intelligent guy and I see why he looks for those qualities in fighters. Fighters with little heart or passion or the reason why many of the fights this season were less than stellar.

I don’t even see the point of having MMA as a side hobby, I mean honestly, its too much to just be partial too, go play an XBox 360 instead. You have another chance, yeah your head has a bump on it, or you are not in the “zone”, take a shot, if you aren’t legitimate about it than stop telling us what a damn solider you are and how you are just such an animal, save it.

I like the way you need subtitles for him!
Personally I think the subtitles are ridiculous, I have no problem understanding him or Ross, I think it’s a bit insultive, but funny. I am sure a English person would have a hard time understanding a complete hick, but still the dialect difference between America and England doesn’t strike me much.

Certain terms like fuckawl (a strong way of saying nothing) may pass some. I don’t care so much about the guys ticks most of the guys that are hated here I think are funny, the problem lies in their passion.

yes. and he learned something.

Oh, the ARM was the issue. I didn’t understand that. Since they didn’t go into the details, I assumed it was the fact that Matt could barely walk and was seemingly concussed (at least) after the fight.

Olympics may be a factor as well. I was also unaware of that.

Good times.

i think matt didn’t come back because of severe concussion. he had severe nausea, vomiting, loss of balance, problems communicating (i’m not making a bad joke), and general disorientation. i’d bet he isn’t continuing partially out of concern for his health and his olympic dreams, and partially because dana white doesn’t want bad publicity because of a severely concussed fighter, who was already recovering from a previous concussion on the show. come on, if it was just an injured arm, white would’ve said, “he’s out because he severely injured his arm and can’t continue.”

The arm was the excuse Dana White used but it may well have only been part of the story.

The guy got some TV time and went out with a win. He got what he came for.

I could see him quitting to pursue his Olympic dream and the arm is the perfrct excuse.

Does anyone besides another hick truely understand what another hick is saying? Especially after you get a few drinks in them? Here in Canada its like talking to the Newfie’s, its a differant language almost and always funny to listen too.

That mekse sense.

Before his fight Matt told the camera that he lied to his family in order to be on the show.

I know he his over 21, but it is not uncommon for people with his dissability to be a little bit coddled.

My guess:

The concussion scared the crap out of him, he has a legit shot at the Olympics. He most likely has a network of family and coaches that would be extremly dissapointed if he wastes his Olympic opportunity.

Yeah boy!!! I was pretty excited with the outcome of that last fight, I told you Kendall was going to make the finals.

I was very impressed with the way Kendall was able to weather the storm in the first round. Kaleb had an obvious advantage on the mat, and in most fights when you see something like that happen, the guy being dominated is unable to get up and make the turnaround necessary. It really took the wind out of Kaleb’s sails when Kendall made it to his feet and started throwing.

I didn’t like the fact that Jesse drew the blue hair dude. Jesse should be able to score the takedown and lay and pray for a victory. I think it’ll be weak that a guy who lost in the first round will make the finals.

I hope Kendall wins.

I know he won’t punk out, even if he loses the final he will give it all he has.

Hawaiians are tough.

Definitely one of the better shows IMO, just wish the fight would have gone the distance because it was a good fight.

Yea, I hope too that they give a verdict next week on whether his ribs were broken or not. You could definitely tell throughout the 2nd round that his breathing was seriously labored. At that time, I just thought that he was gassed. The only thing that makes me question the severity of his injury is that he made a comment post fight that he wasn’t used to training this way and thought that he wasn’t conditioned enough. That sort of made me wonder if he was using the injury as a way out because he was starting to get his ass handed to him because he was gassed.

This is from some ultimate fighter forum, posted by Kalib

Thank you for your interest and criticism. The injury to my sternum occured in the first round from a roundhouse kick, however it wasn't until the knee in the second round that I felt it was appropriate to bring it to the attention of the referee, as I thought that the doctor should look at it before the fight continued, fearing permenant injury. The referee however ignored me completely as did my corner and the doctor in between rounds, the only people who seemed to care were Tito and Kendall. The injury I suffered was a costo-chondral seperation, as two of my ribs were torn off of the catilage of my sternum one more severley than the other, and it will never be the same as bone and cartilage do not grow back together so easily. Most people are unfamilliar with this type of injury, which takes longer to heal than broken ribs. For two weeks I could not sleep on my sides and it took approximately 10 weeks before I could do a single sit-up. It was extremely disappointing to see Ken Shamrock attack my character like he did, and to have him ignore me after the fight, one would think that he would give me the benefit of the doubt until some contradictory evidence presented itself. Forming opinions and making assertions with little or no evidence however is what made Ken into the great genius we see today and we should not expect this to change any time soon. I like Kendall and none of this should take away from his win, I still talk to him and wish him the best.

“I may disagree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it” ?

LOL!

Well, I’m glad Kalib settled that matter. That’s a bad injury to have, very slow to heal.
