UFC Fight Night 14: Silva vs. Irvin

Perhaps Machida?

I hate Machida with a deep passion. The guy doesn’t fight he plays tag. I sincerely hope that Anderson Silva’s gives Machida a career-ending injury.
I know what you’re saying. A friend of his would say he is elusive. That does make for a boring fight. I was only suggesting someone that is as quick as him. The good thing is that Machida would not have to wait for him.

The difference is, like others are saying, his accuracy, he landed that punch EXACTLY where it needed to be.

Holy shit.

Looked like he broke Irvins occipital lobe. That’s unreal. One shot and he caved his face in.

Scary thing is that it wasn’t even a max effort punch; he was holding Irvin’s leg. I think Silva’s power will be much more brutal @ 205. His 185 KO’s seemed to come from flurries/combinations of strikes but they were never one shot kills.

It won’t happen. They’re both friends and have mentioned that they wouldn’t fight each other…

Looking at the way both Main events went tonight, I’d say fuck it! Pair The spider against Fedor!!!

yeah you’re obviously a dumbass with no knowledge of MMA. anyone who wishes a fighter a career-ending injury is a douchebag and on top of that they said they will never fight because like m1stf1t said are great friends. anderson said he’s only fighting once at light heavyweight and then going back down for good because the light heavyweight belt, he said, is machida’s to go after.

Fedor is both an immovable object and unstoppable force at once. So amazed.

First off: Mazagatti should never ref again. That eye poke was one of the WORST pieces of officiating I have ever seen. Total incompetance.

Secondly, big surprise, Anderson Silva is amazing. As easy as I thought it could be.
Yep. Mazz needs to go. How the fuck can you not see what’s going on right in front of you? No way Johnson should get the L from that. The uppercut that followed didn’t even hit him.

Forrest had to of been crapping his pants when he saw how quickly Anderson laid the Sandman to rest. Luckily for Forrest, Anderson has no plans (right now) to challenge for the LHW belt; he’s said that belt is Machida’s to win.

I was just thinking of how awesome a Anderson-Liddell fight or Anderson-Rampage (provided Rampage can get his life back in order, which I hope he is able to) fight would be down the road.

I did gain a lot of resprect for Johnson the way he handled the whole situation. Very classy. You could tell Burns was essentially ashamed of Mazz’s call.

First off, the Affliction card blows this shit away. Secondly, I don’t think it makes a lot of sense.

The hard core fans will still watch the Affliction card no matter what. Fedor alone will put all the forum warriors in front of the TV. The casual fans won’t watch Affliction, really NO ONE outside of the forums knows that PPV even exists. I really don’t think the UFC card will hurt the Affliction buys at all, but the UFC will be missing all the hard core fans watching their card live.
Agreed.

Yeah, my comments were a little over the top…but seriously I don’t like Machida’s style. I would give him more credit for his defensive skills if he finished more fights; but he runs around the ring landing shots that rarely threaten to do anything.

You guys suck. You’re supposed to be putting videos up of Silva owning Irvin. At least give me some links.

Irvin’s jaw is 100%$ glass, holy shit. Rothwell took a LOT of damage before finally going down.
Don’t think so dude. Irvin has taken big shots and shook them all off in the past. Sometimes a guy (or a punch) just have your number, regardless of your chin. That’s just how it is.

Plus Silva punches seriously hard. Keep in mind that he knocks Irvin off, not with his power hand but with his right hand, his lead hand.

This was one serious power punch, with nasty presicion… and with the lead hand. Goddamit, Silva is one seriously scary ass-breaking motherfucker.

Something to add that no one else has brought up…you DO NOT want to take a good shot when you only have one leg grounded. Oh,and set up your kicks, dammit…Silva saw that shit a mile away.

Silva’s s great fighter to watch. He has real clean technique. That was a bad position for Irvin to get caught in with Silva holding up one of his legs. That is why kicks need to be snapped instead of left out like that.

It looked like the second to last punch was the final nail in the coffin that put him totally out.

Fuck Mazz and the judges. How do you give a guy a W when he essentially beat his opponent with an illegal move? Using that logic, Yves should have just stopped the fight when CB kneed Jesse and given CB the win. WTF?

I think when throwing a muay thai kick, it is much harder to snap it because of the straighter leg. He should have set it up better and brought back the kick faster.
I took TKD for 5 yrs and its much easier to snap the kick back because we chamber the leg first. When I took some sessions from Ganyao, he always pointed out that the leg must be straighter and not bent as much. Throw it like a bat, he always said.

I think the bottom line is, even though it was a shitty deal, you can’t undo a call.

It appeared to me Mazz was unaware of the eye poke until after he called it. Hell, Burns did a good job of looking confused.
