Can not believe it!!! On Junly 19, on Spike, plus Franca versus Edgar rescheduled from UFC 87. Wow! Silva’s debut at 205, plus Brandon Vera is rumored to be on the same card. I’d rather watch this for free rather than shelling ot $40 to see those top heavyweights duke it out.
I agree that this is more appealing than the Affliction event but I still want to see Fedor rumble. Initially I thought Wandy would be fighting in this event but I guess not. Anyways good to see Anderson step up.

i disagree… i’ll pretty much always be more interested in seeing fedor fight than anyone else… it’s a blatant attempt by Zuffa to shut down their obvious competition… Affliction.
great business practice though
makes everything DAMN more interesting.
First off, the Affliction card blows this shit away. Secondly, I don’t think it makes a lot of sense.
The hard core fans will still watch the Affliction card no matter what. Fedor alone will put all the forum warriors in front of the TV. The casual fans won’t watch Affliction, really NO ONE outside of the forums knows that PPV even exists. I really don’t think the UFC card will hurt the Affliction buys at all, but the UFC will be missing all the hard core fans watching their card live.
On the other hand, holy shit how exciting it is to have two fucking amazing cards going head to head on a night? Good time to be a fan.

yup
This now in to. They resigned Jake O’Brien and now he is fighting Cain Velasques on the same card
Holy shit is right!!
My DVR has become the best of equipment I own now! Watch the Affliction card first, then the UFC right afterwards.
I need to make sure to send out the wife on paid “girl’s night out” with her friends…

Not sure why UFC is counter-programming Affliction, which won’t do much in terms of PPV buys aside from the hardcore audience.
Makes much more sense if they were to run this card a week later when Elite XC returns to CBS.
In either case, it’s not really necessary as UFC runs more than enough shows as it is, and I think Dana White is spending too much time listening to armchair QB’s.
Interesting that Anderson’s moving up to 205. I would think the UFC wouldn’t be too happy about that, and that they’d want a champion to stay a champion in a given weight class. But I guess once a guy has cleaned out an entire division . . .
But in all fairness, comparing this to the Affliction card – perhaps the best heavyweight card EVER put on in the history of fighting? That’s a joke. Sure, I’ll DVR the UFC event, but there’s NO WAY I’ll miss seeing Fedor stomp on Tim Sylvia after all these years.
The card is updated on wikipedia. Wandy is on it!
That’s interesting, other rumors had it they were going to “welcome” Vera to LH with Wandy, in any case, it’s going to be an awesome card, still not as great as the Affliction one, they’re sure making a great effort to match it up though.

Couture is gonna be pissed

I am curious as to why?
I would pay $40 to watch Fedor take a shit vs watching anything the UFC can offer for free.
I will however be watching the Affliction card at my dad’s house, and then watching the Silvas beat the shit out of their respective opponents when I get home. Thank god for Tivo.
Fedor’s fight is going to be insane.
But wikipedia also has Anderson Silva fighting again at UFC 88, at 185 so…

The great thing about wikipedia is anybody in the world can put up anything… so you know you’re getting good information.
