I hope I never see another Kalib Starnes fight in the UFC.

Why would you say that?
I hope I’m wrong, but I think GSP is gonna stick to his unreal wrestling from now on and will focus less on the standup.
Anybody know how to watch the unaired prelims? It says on the ufc website that UFC On Demand will carry it, but all i can find is the actual PPV and the post fight interviews/press conferences. I’m looking for the brad morris fight, specifically

Why would you hope you are wrong. He has the finest MMA grappling I have seen, his takedown defense is out of the Matrix. I got a woody just watching him hit those sick doubles on Serra.

A couple of thoughts this morning:
a) Depending on what Hughes wants to do, there is still a lot of interest in that Serra/Hughes fight and I would like to see what it whatever it takes to make it happen.

From my understanding Hughes was quoted as saying, “When Serra loses to GSP, I want him.”
LOL. I like the “when”. Not “if”, but “when”. I think he knew that GSP was going to mow through Serra after witnessing first hand what GSP can do at this point in his game.
Yeah, that is one hell of a stacked deck for sure.
Yeah, he’s a pretty funny guy it seems. Honestly, although it certainly wasn’t the most exciting fight on the card, I’ve gotta give Quarry some serious credit for just how much he’s improved his striking skills.
Caleb Starnes has never been a contender IMO (I think his weakness is mostly between his ears), but damn, Quarry looked phenomenal in that fight. I think Starnes landed maybe 2-3 strikes in all three rounds of that fight. Quarry’s reaction time, distance control, set-ups and accuracy were very impressive. Definitely not the same guy we saw get KTFO by Franklin.

d) Franklin’s arm bar escape was fucking sick. You could tell Lutter thought he had won the fight.
Hell yeah. Talk about another great gameplan performed to the letter. Franklin knew what Lutter’s bread and butter was, and knew that submission was really the only way he was going to lose that fight. He also knew that Lutter’s conditioning was suspect (actually pretty much sucks if you ask me) and tricked Lutter into expending it all trying to submit him.
Also, even though it didn’t result in the win. I actually think that McCarthy’s strategy worked decently well in the first round. He got Bisping pissed, trying to knock him out, and overcommitting. He then used that to take Bisping down hard.
Unfortunately for him, he didn’t finish the fight. And you can only get away with using that strategy so many times. I actually agree with whoever said it, that Bisping may have broken one of McCarthy’s arms with those knees.

I can’t stop laughing at this gif

I was giving Serra some credit in the first round but basically watched the last 3 minutes of round 2 with my mouth wide open.
Sweet Jesus, a man fighting a child indeed.
Serra would do well to cash in and fight Hughes and leave GSP well enough alone.
Awesome.
I can’t recall the last time I saw a stoppage from knees the the body. But judging by the size of wheels on GSP, Serra’s ribs are probably being pulled out of his liver as we speak. GSP has the legs of a fucking heavyweight.

Honestly?

That is the funniest/most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen in a fight.

What was amazing to me is he threw them so fast Serra didn’t even have a chance to bring his hands in to mount even a basic defense. Just BOOM!!! I was just sitting there shaking my head thinking thing were about to get ugly.
I was also pleased to see Franklin pull out the win even though it cost me a Heineken mini keg. After that comment Lutter made about never losing to Silva again I wanted to see him get destroyed and basically got my wish.
That was a fun night of fights although I wish they would have broadcast the Clementi/Stout fight. Sounds like it was a battle.

I actually stood up and started saying, “Shit, it’s over…it’s over.” That was awesome.
He also avoided several attempts at knee bar/heel hooks.
He obviously put the time in in the gym for this one.

b) BJ Penn, GSP, Anderson Silva, Rampage, and Noguiera…without a doubt the greatest collection of MMA organization champions ever.

The question I have is, now that the cream has finally made its way to the top, who can challenge them?
He was translating. The French didin’t stray too far from the English. It wasn’t a transliteration or anything (i.e. word for word), but it was a pretty accurate translation.
He just got the crowd fired up because they appreciated him speaking in french - rather than english only.
I have to say, I’m disappointed with Starnes. During his last fight he seemed game - willing to bang it out. This time around, he was awful. The cut from his previous fight must have left him squeamish. He has to find his will. That was probably the last time we will ever see him on UFC.
It was awesome seeing Danzig! Hope to see more of him soon.

Sean Sherk is without a doubt the worst style match-up at lightweight for BJ Penn, so that fight is going to be HUGE. If BJ can beat Sherk, I think we see him going after GSP because I don’t think anyone else at LW can hang with what he brings to the cage.
But does the UFC let a reigning champion in one weight division switch to another weight division? I doubt it . . . .

True, if Penn won that would make the 170 division look pretty bad. But what other fights can they put together that would be as good as this? I’m thinking Dana is going to have to raid some other organization’s top ranks to find contenders. Is there anyone out there that could challenge for WW, MW, LHW, or HW (other than Fedor)?

He could if GSP accepted the fight. However, only GSP’s belt would be at risk since the fight would be at 170.

They have tons of talent at LW, so there are plenty of guys to fill his shoes. And, knowing BJ’s past, he won’t hesistate to tell them to fuck off and go bare knuckle box at super heavyweight in the Cambodian jungle if he doesn’t get his way. Dana was talking at the press conference that he would allow GSP to up to fight Anderson, so he’s not totally opposed to the idea.

His unreal wrestling is what is making him a complete mixed martial artist…He has the tools and coach(Greg Jackson) to adjust his game plan according to whomever he’s fighting. Its pretty hard to prepare for and beat a guy who’s above average in all dimensions of the fight game. GSP is a COMPLETE fighter…his transitions from stand up to takedowns was amazing.
Hell I was amazed when he transitioned from that Superman punch to low kick…I wouldn’t say it was a factor, but I would love to see a GIF of that.
