UFC 83 Countdown

I remember back when “Sugar Ray Leonard” fought “Roberto Duran” in Canada. He to was not ready for the welcome he received. Welcome come to Canada Matt Serra, we have free medical!!

I read your link. I definately think that you guys are underestimating Serra. Serra is a top student of Renzo Gracie. So we know he had a good teacher.

Before he went into UFC Serra won some important Jiu Jitsu tournaments. When a guy who is a champion Jiu Jitsu competitor wins a UFC title, I would not be so quick to dismiss it as a fluke.

Serra was very effective at using the differences in their builds last time. At five foot, six inches and a hundred sixty five pounds Serra is short but he is thick. It can be hard to hurt a guy who is built like that if you are a lot taller and he comes at you like Serra did to GSP the last time.

I think it has the potential to be a really good fight. GSP is the one who needs to bring something different this time on the stand up, because Serra could just do the same thing he did last time, run him down and KTFO. Or GSP could try to take him down and test his skills against the Jiu Jitsu champ.

One spinning back fist!

It was kinda cool to see Bisping with abs, he looks to be in great shape to win his debut.

He’s cut alright. The question is, can he deal with he weight loss?

Holy fuck. Is he auditioning for The Machinist 2?

I hope Serra wins, but I dont think he will.

That is what I said the first fight, maybe saying the same thing on the same web site will have an effet on the 2nd fight as well.

I can see GSP reading this post right now screaming, “NOOOOOOOO!!! Damn you DF85! Damn you to hell! I had it all wrapped up until you had to come on this website and post that!”

 :stuck_out_tongue:

HA lets hope. It’s cool that Biotest sponsers GSP but I am still going with Serra.

PS

Bisping looks like shit in that pic

I’m pumped for this fight.

GSP
Franklin

Did it start yet? Any updates?

Well, that was basically a man fighting a child.

Hokey dokey then. Another clinic.

GSP 4:45 Rd 2 with some vicious knees.

Finally, all is right with the universe.

GSP by ref stoppage

Wow, pretty dominating performance by GSP, he was prepared and had a very good gameplan going into the fight. You can tell he is way stronger then before, he also looked very slippery and in great shape.

I almost shit a brick with the Rich Franklin fight, way to show class by getting out of that arm bar, it was a great fight aswell. Lutter got gassed way too quick, it was almost sad looking at him.

Bisping was looking extremly fast at 185 and seems to be looking better then ever.

Kalib seemed scared to throw punches and got his leg destroyed by continuous kicks. Nate was looking solid, i think he should work on his speed ,but very solid indeed.

Danzing vs Bocek fight was also very good, a lot of heart shown by both competitors.

Overall this was a very good card, enjoyed it very much.

Cool, I didn’t see the show, so I’m waiting for Donut’s gifs. As soon as I saw the results I figured GSP put on another clinic on how to whoop ass.

GSP TKO Round 2.

Franklin should outwork Lutter without too much trouble. I’ll take an Ace UD.

Good call, easy but good all the same!

First video has the fight.

I was giving Serra some credit in the first round but basically watched the last 3 minutes of round 2 with my mouth wide open.

Sweet Jesus, a man fighting a child indeed.

Serra would do well to cash in and fight Hughes and leave GSP well enough alone.

Awesome.

GSP and Serra went pretty much how everyone thought it would…GSP by rape. I’ve never seen a fight stopped by knees to the body, but another 15 seconds of those in Serra’s fetal position defense and he probably would’ve broken a rib or two. WAR GSP!

Had my mouth open at that armbar by Lutter, and left my mouth open when Lutter gassed within a round…good win by Franklin though…I guess he can always be number 2.

Bisping actually looked GOOD and not mediocre like before, even if he was fighting a can… those 20ish knees looked vicious, I thought he might’ve broke McCarthy’s forearm since he couldn’t continue.

Bocek did better than I thought, had my doubts about Danzig but he pulled it through…good for him, he deserves it for all the time he’s put in.

It’s too bad some of the undercard wasn’t televised, Maia’s sub/beatdown over Herman looked brutal, and the Day-Belcher fight as well as Velasquez-Morris fight ended in the first round, which could’ve taken the place of Quarry-Starnes…

which was probably the most pathetic fight I’ve ever seen, and the first time I’ve even HEARD of someone getting a 30-24…wtf? Loved that running man and retarded arm pump jab at the end though…which Starnes STILL backed away from…double wtf?

NO SHIT! That’s what makes GSP such a badass fighter, he executes his game plans perfectly and he’s like a different fighter every single time! I can really see him staying the champ of the division for a long time, especially now that he’s learnt from his mistakes. I can’t really think of who would be able to compete with him for his first couple of title defenses.

I guess now we will get to see Matt Hughes and Serra going at it soon, that should be interesting, even though Hughes should be able to sent Serra back to the lower ranks, where he was before.

That body roll out from the armbar by Franklin was awesome to see.

The only question I have is, what in hell are McCarthy and Kalib doing in the UFC, or fighting at all for that matter???

A couple of thoughts this morning:

a) Depending on what Hughes wants to do, there is still a lot of interest in that Serra/Hughes fight and I would like to see what it whatever it takes to make it happen.

b) BJ Penn, GSP, Anderson Silva, Rampage, and Noguiera…without a doubt the greatest collection of MMA organization champions ever.

c) Nate Quarry had me laughing, but when he pulled out the Rocky IV quote at the end I fell off the couch…maybe it was because I was drunk.

d) Franklin’s arm bar escape was fucking sick. You could tell Lutter thought he had won the fight.
