UFC 70: Nations Collide

Couple of nit-pick thoughts:

When did Mirko drop his last name or legally change it to “CroCop”? isn’t his last name actually Filopivk or something?

Who the hell is Emelianenko Fedor? Joe needs to lay off the bud.

Anyone else think that Mirko is so pissed at himself for losing he is done?

I’m convinced the UFC is rigged. Randy beating Tim…ok. GSP getting ko’d Serra, the guy from TUF? This whole Dana White/Tito thing? Now Crocop gets laid out by…nobody? Come on…it really makes you wonder.

There is some weird stuff happening but I think Dana White really wanted Cro Cop to win so he could hype the hell out of Cro Cop vs Couture.

Gonzaga vs Couture will not generate nearly as much excitement.

Fedor is probably the best pound for pound fighter ever to grace MMA. He is 26-1 with his only loss coming to a freak cut that he got 17 seconds in to a fight way back.

He is the current Pride Heavyweight champ and has cleaned up everybody in Pride including Cro Cop and Noguiera (twice).

Here is a nice example of what he can do:

Cro Cop has not leagally change his last name as far as im aware, they just use it cos it sounds better than Filipovic.

And i think you need to lay off the bud if you think Cro Cop fight was rigged…who the fuck would let someone kick them in the head that hard?

Step #2:
Re-read my post.

I am well aware of who Fedor is. I’ve just never heard him called “Emelianenko Fedor”, unless it’s that whole backwards last name first first name last thing, I know that’s how it works in japan so maybe that is how he is announced in the Pride fights?

And I was kidding about the UFC being rigged. Just a lot of upsets as of late. That and Dana White likes to pull a lot of pro-wrestleingish moves, like the Tito thing. Also, I’m not too sure why he had that shit-eating grin on his face after the TUF 6 announcment. That was far from earth shattering information. For all I care Gumby and Captian Caveman could be the coaches.

Jesus H that’s way too much sarcasm for the internet hahah

Uhh…I hope you are joking.

I don’t know for sure, but I always hear Fedor addressed last name first by the Japanese media and announcers. I think it is a respect thing, perhaps something Russian because they don’t do the same for other fighters. I always call him that too, since I’ve heard it so much, just like I call Mark “Hunt-O”.

As far as “Cro Cop” goes, Mirko specifically requested to use that in place of his last name because it drove him crazy to have to constantly correct everyone in the pronounciation of “Filipovic”.

That’s funny, cause I still hear people constantly pronounce Mirko Murko, and Crocop Crocoff.

Hell no it won’t, they better have a stellar co-main event to make that card palatable to casual fans. I can’t stand Gonzaga. I suffered through one of the worst fights ever when he fought Kevin Jordan and then knocked him out with 10 seconds left…he is slowly becoming a great fighter, but I will never forget watching him in his first UFC fight.

And I think he will probably come into the Couture fight as the favored fighter…I hope Couture beats the crap out of him though.

For those who were dissapointed in Gonzaga’s first fight go to UFCmania.com for a great explanation.

He was going through some major shit and although I hated him for the same reason I now forgive him.

Thanks, that’s what I was trying to get at.

I’ve noticed that as well.

Usually, it’s something along the lines of “Emelia-nenk Shodorr”…
