Where did all the hate for Timbo come from?

a) He’s uncharismatic and boring
b) He beats everyone they put in front of him, which just makes it worse.

He also seems like a cocky sun of a bitch.
Oh, on an unrelated note, though this is not a physique contest, he’s got to have one of the butt-UGLIEST bodies ever seen on any type of athlete. Almost makes you wish they’d let him fight with a T-shirt on.

I agree for the most part. However, the charge of him being ‘boring’ is really a recent development.
Tim’s ‘boring’ reputation really didn’t surface until the 3rd Arlovski fight. Tims wins over Trauma, Cabbage, Gan, Ricco, & Arlovski II were far from boring. Even his losses to Arlovski & Mir were quick, action-packed fights. The only boring Sylvia fight I can think of prior to Arlovski III was his infamous UFN 3 fight versus Assuerio Silva, and I’ll give him a pass on that one considering he was sick as a dog and probably shouldn’t have even been in the octagon.
I think Couture hit the nail on the head regarding the reason for Sylvia being ‘boring’ recently … he’s protecting his precious (the HW strap) and refuses to take any risks. Hopefully, Timmah will take Randy’s words to heart and stop doing just enough to win and get back to his roots as a KO machine.

I don’t know. There are some pretty disgusting looking NFL linemen and MLB pitchers out there. I suspect Tim looks no worse with his shirt off than Ted Washington or Bartolo Colon.
You’re probably right. But then again, we don’t have to actually SEE Ted or Bartolo with their shirts off . . . .

As is the total hate for him. It’s a damn shame they didn’t hold on to Josh Barnett. I hope he comes back someday. Hands down the best American heavyweight on the planet.

I don’t hate Tim, but until recently he was champion of the weakest division in big league MMA (Pride & UFC). And you’d think he just knocked out Ali and won 9 gold medals in the Olympics with the way he acted. It’s one thing to be proud of what you have achieved, especially someone like Tim who had a very difficult life, it’s another to be saying things like “Fedor is a tiny little shit”, “Mirko is too slow for me”, “Aleks has slow hands”, “The French are pussies and I’ll outstrike JLB” etc etc. If he acted a tad bit classier I don’t think the hardcore fan base would be so repulsed by him.
Of course, now the UFC HW division looks really good, however Tim has yet to face any of the guys that rounded it out. If Tim can back up his talk I’ll eat crow and give the man his dues. Until then, I root for him to lose.
Out of curiosity, how long do you think a Tim Sylvia vs. Fedor fight would go? I’d give it to Fedor by submission in Round 1 or 2.
if couture can get inside of sylvia and take him to the ground, sylvia will lose. i’m going for the upset in this one. couture by decision.
hughes will take care of lytle rather easily. tko round 2.
as far as franklin and mcdonald are concerned, that’ll be a competitive match-up. franklin got rocked badly against silva with those knees to the face. he claims his injuries are all fully healed… i don’t think they are. i say mcdonald takes it by decision.
I don’t like Tim. His fights just don’t excite me, he’s overly cocky, and he has almost enough charisma to fit inside a thimble.
That said, he works his ass off and fights who they put in front of him. He gave Arlovsky an instant rematch, which I thought was cool. I heard he was boo’ed at the weigh-ins. Goofy fucker or not, he doesn’t deserve that.

You look at guys like Couture, Lydell, Tito, Cro-Cop, Fedor, you see these guys who look different, who look bad ass and seperate from the rest of humanity.
You look at Tim and see a big guy who could be living in the trailer next door and working at AutoZone or day managing a McDonalds.
Still I think it’s going to be a close fight and will not go the distance.
I am debating on if to get this UFC card or not … how many of you are getting it
wonder if I should wait to see it online
not real impressed with the match-ups
I was happy to see Randy retire as he did as I could see he was through and to see him come back does not make me want to purchase this pay-per-view… just the opposite… I do not feel he is in it for the right reasons… he has made his mark… lets see cro-cop… rampage… or wandy
just my thoughts
Accordign to Sherdog, no real surprises thus far.
Although i am surprised Babalu got kncoked out by Lambert. Hughes took an unanimous decision and Franklin has yet to dance.
randy couture is my hero.
If Randy Couture needs a blowjob, I’m ready.
Full Results from the ppv:
Jason Lambert def. Renato “Babalu” Sobral via KO (punch) at 3:36 of Round 2.
Matt Hughes def. Chris Lytle via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after 3 Rounds.
Rich Franklin def. Jason MacDonald via TKO (corner stoppage) after Round 2.
Martin Kampmann def. Drew McFedries via Submission (arm triangle) at 4:06 of Round 1.
Randy Couture def. Tim Sylvia via Unanimous Decision () after 5 Rounds to become new UFC Heavyweight champion.
Couture is a beast, enough said.
what just happened? That was incredible on Randy’s part, but a part of me was left wondering why Sylvia wasn’t throwing better punches.
um wow all are prays have been answered Randy took down the giant, complete domination through 5 rounds, Randy even droped him with the first punch he threw!
Couture . . . WOW.
