“Tommy Morrison.” LMFAO.

I think Chuck just became unavailable for future TV interviews!

That was painful to watch. Too much oxycodone.
I don’t know what is worse, his apparent drug use or his shirt.

He’s a Croat. Cro Cop is short for “Croatian Cop” from his days as a counter terrorism commando. His real name is Mirko Filipovic.

Russia - Croatia…I got close. They used to both wave the same flag.
Huh? We never waved the “hammer and sickle” flag…

Back to the original topic: Randy is one of my favourite fighters, and it’s a clear indicator of my hatred for Sylvia that I don’t want Randy to win so we can see The Most Hated Man in MMA get his head chopped off against Mirko.

On the other hand, your scenario “Randy pummels Tim into oblivion, then retires again, then Tim barely recovers for another vicious pummeling against Mirko” sounds also good.

Hey that shirt is “Affliction” bro…they make badass threads.

Good Grief!!!
I have a friend that came out of brain surgery in post-op that had more snap.

Why don’t any of Sylvia’s ‘opponents’ ever try to counteract that monster reach with a couple of rounds of leg kicks?
I agree… a few outside leg kicks will send the already baby giraffe-legged sylvia to the ground quickly

a hunched over tim sylvia takes a drink

Don’t know anything about them but that shirt is horrible.

Where did all the hate for Timbo come from?

Every forum that I am a member of hates this guy. I mean, I want to see him lose but, I don’t feel the need to sacrifice my first born to see it happen.

Now if we were talking about that dipshit Diego Sanchez, or Tito, or his little butt buddy Kendall - I would understand.

Maybe I just don’t care enough about the heavy weights to have that much passion about Sylvia. It is, or has been a pretty bland division.

Maybe with some Pride Fighting infusion such as THE CROATIAN (is that better?), it will become a division worth watching. The only reason this fight holds any value to me is because of Couture. Past that, and I could care less.

Arlovski tried in their second fight … and it didn’t seem to bother Timmah.

Sylvia is more than happy to eat a couple of leg kicks if it opens his opponent up for a counter right cross. It’s hard to leg kick against a guy who has a crazy reach advantage and is always in range to drill you with a counter punch.

It was their third fight which went the distance.
He only leg kicked for one round. and it did have some effect on him. Had he continued for the next four rounds timmah would have needed knee surgery. Even the commentators were talking about why he didn’t keep kicking his leg.

Unfortunately, I believe that Tim will knock Randy out by the second round. He is not my favorite fighter to watch but size and striking will win out in this case.

Hughes should roll through Lytle by takedown and gnp. They are different class fighters and it will show.

Rich should be able to dominate Jason about any way he wants to. Again these are different class fighters.

All in all I believe that these fights will be short and sweet and the non title fights have two A class fighters against two B class fighters.

I hope I’m wrong…but I doubt it.

I hate to say it but I think Randy is going to get TKO’ed early on.

Would be nice to see him win a 5 round war with a sub at the end or something.

Tim is going to do “cautious sprawl n brawl” to put Randy to sleep…along with all the viewers.

At least we’ll get to see Air Crotia fly Tim’s head into international waters.

Hughes should win.

In the Franklin vs McDonald fight I think the difference in striking is going to be very apparent. And by this I mean Jason is going to get lit up. I also think Franklin’s superior endurance just makes this fight too much for McDonald.

And Chuck said he was joking about the Morrison comment.

Rich Franklin vs Jason Macdonald should be an AWESOME fight. Both have something to prove tonight and can’t afford to lose.

Like I give a shit. I made a mistake, and corrected it - or did you not even bother to finish reading.

Is it in Europe? Then why do I give a flying fuck about what motherfucking flag it waves?

This is a fight thread - either talk about the fight or shut the fuck up.

It was behind the iron curtain, and whether or not you want to admit it - was very much controlled by the Soviets.

Now go find someone else to nit pick.

I hope this thread won’t get hijacked with geographical and national hysteria as some others have been.

We’ve been placed in Africa, South America and on one occasion even in Siberia(!) by various American media mentioning Mirko. So if you got the continent we’re on correctly, that’s quite sufficient.

Anyway, I spoke with some guys who train in Mirko’s team, and they’re pretty pissed Mirko decided to join the UFC. Allegedly, those guys were able to score with PRIDE groupies in Japan during after fight parties (Mirko is notorious for avoiding such events) because they both claimed they were Mirko. I’m highly suspicious that even to the Japanese eye a guy with short hair might be confused for Mirko, but I’ve heard it from several unrelated sources.

I doubt that a similar scenario is possible in Vegas.

Couture vs. Sylvia: I’m a big couture fan but in all honesty I don’t see him winning this fight. Sylvia is 13 years younger than Couture and Couture looked anything but stellar vs Liddell (granted he was facing an amazing fighter). I would def pick Randy had this been him of 4-6 years ago but it isn’t.

Hughes vs. Lytle: I’d probably be willing to bet my car on this fight. Matt wins hands down.
Side note: Lytle is 2-5 in UFC competition.

Franklin vs. MacDonald: Out of the three main fights, this could be the most exciting or Rich will roll through him. This is Macdonald’s first test at the ‘elite’ level of the UFC. Ill take Rich though by TKO.

I am also a Couture fan. Hell, at 50 I’m a BJJ player and see Randy as a “young guy”!

I don’t see any challenger getting a decision in a five rounder against somebody like Sylvia. Couture has to get in the clinch and ground-and-pround. Do some damage and possibly cut him. Sylvia sprawled well and defended on the ground efectively against Monson, Couture will have to take that to a higher level.

Uhhh… i wouldn’t exactly say monson rocked the finest takedowns in that… fight (I use the term loosely).

Coture has shown in fights long ago before the Chuk liddel fiasco that he has a long range hard shot that I don’t think timmer can sprawl. But we shall see, shan’t we? I don’t think tim can go past 3 rounds with randy, a far superior athlete and technical fighter. Tim relies on human freakishness for long punches. But on the inside I think randy will tkae it. Ideally mirko gets to fight tim to get to randy, perfect.

obviously hughes by outclassing lytle entirely.

And who knows with J-mac and franklin. Also, who cares. I’ve rolled with J-mac and he’s tough. But, in reality I doubt that he can beat a guy like franklin. Also, keep in mind there is no way in god’s blue earth that franklins nose is healed from that double break via anderson. Also, his concussion can in no way be back to baseline. If he catches too many (maybe even one good one) he will go down quick. That’s what happened to Wanderlei last weekend. He undoubtedly still had a concussion and you just can’t take the shots you once could with brain trauma. this plays a critical role, which I never knew till I read one of my profs thesis on sports concussions. This is why they get hockey players that pass out randomly (given minor jolts rather) in junior leagues where there is far less restriction for player health.

Who else is on the card or is it just the 3 fights? there must be some preliminary farmboy deathmatches.

-chris

I’m not that excited about this card but im happy that big MMA events seem to be on every other weekend at the moment! I’m going to UFC 70, Manchester in April too!

I’m interested in Randy v Sylvia. Randy was very critical of Monson and Tito’s (against Chuck) strategy of shooting from the outside rather than getting inside and shooting. Let’s see if he is able to do that without getting his head knocked off.

I think Hughes’s fight is a formality and also Franklin’s. Although a lot of people are hyping the fact that Franklin might be a broken man, I don’t think Macdonald is the guy to expose that if it is the case. He isn’t big enough and doesn’t hit hard enough.
