UFC 65

Matt was given “as much time as needed” to recover from the ‘kicks’ in the balls.

If he wasn’t fully recovered from them at any time during the rest of the fight, it’s only his fault for not taking enough time. He did look fully recovered from them when he started fighting again though.

Wrong!

Does this mean anything? Maybe. Just a look at the difference though.

Bj

I think you just had to be there to see how fast GSP truly was. The nickname “RUSH” is very appropriate. In all honesty, neither BJ nor Hughes can touch him right now. He is way too focused, strong, quick, etc. Thanks to Biotest supplementation, his conditioning and upgraded ground and strike attacks, GSP will be champion until he does not want it anymore.

Take it easy, I was only giving the guy a hard time for saying GSP got beat to hell by BJ only because he was poked in the eye. That’s an excuse on par with the GSP double assault on Hughes’ testes. I won’t use an injury that occurred during the match as an excuse for a loss, that’s weak. Bottom line is Hughes seemed to want to stand and strike, and that was a mistake.

How do u guys feel about Frank Mir? He got his ass handed to him again Sat night. He just hasnt been the same after his bike accident.

Ummmmmmmm…that BJ had better defense to that one example of a GSP kick?

If BJ doesn’t move down we’ll hopefully find out next year.

George didn’t lose to BJ. In fact he fought through it(eye poke)and came out on top literally enough times to win it.

What part of that describes weakness or excuse making? Me saying what I said? So what. Guess you got me. I’m weak.

Meanwhile BJ is trying to find a weight class he can win in. I wonder what the excuses…I mean reasons are for that descision.

And speaking about weakness, where is Smitty88. Awfully silent ain’t it?

How about this: GSP vs Anderson Silva? That would be quite a battle, despite the weight difference. Or, GSP vs Chuck. That, too, would be quite a fight, despite the weight difference.

in case you missed it (like i did)…

What the fuck. There needs to be a standardized set of judging criteria set forth by the UFC with regards to their matches…most of the time getting a couple of takedowns is enough for the win, but not always(see a couple of Horn’s victories.) Loosely defining octagon control, often giving points based on punches that are blocked, all these things lead to inconsistent scoring, frustrated fans, and stupid ass arguments.

That was awesome

I was wondering about him as well. The question is:

  1. Is he not improving at all?

or

  1. How good is Brandon Vera? Since Vera hasn’t lost yet it’s difficult to gauge his abilities?

I guess we’ll find out about Mir if Zuffa allows him to fight again and how well Vera does against Tim “I wear me belt to bed at night” Sylvia.

Unless there is a stoppage (and some of those are pretty suspect at times) - I think the judging criteria is:

  1. Who Dana White wants to win

  2. Who Dana White wants to lose.

While I do think mir’s best days are behind him(a little sad considering he is only 26,) Vera was a very bad matchup problem for him and this fight had knockout written all over it.

I do not know how Vera would match up with Sylvia since Vera is one of the smallest(weight wise) heavyweights and Sylvia is one of the biggest. Add in the fact that Vera is pretty young and hasn’t faced a dominate striker yet, and you have the mix for Vera either getting exposed as a hyped fighter or the future of the division. I guess I answered a whole lot of nothing with that post, but in truth, nothing is definitive until he and Sylvia strap it up and throw down.

"Unless there is a stoppage (and some of those are pretty suspect at times) - I think the judging criteria is:

The UFC don’t appoint the judges. The athletic commission do. There is some bad judging but that is because of the judges not Dana. If Dana could really have the judges do his bidding do you think Sylvia would be champ?
