As usual, this week’s update is full of quality info, but reading the second part of Chris Shugart’s article reminded me of something that we all probably tend to forget, the quality of writing in T-mag is top-notch. Yes, the article was informative and interesting, but I was really impressed with the “dream sequence” that started off Part II. I had to remind myself that I was reading a bodybuilding magazine rather than an excerpt from a mystery novel. Regardless of any reader crticism over content that TC and Chris have received, no one can deny their obvious writing talents.
As an aspiring writer, I’m hoping Chris and TC could let us know, how did ya get so damned good at writing? My thanks for an incredibly informative and readable source of information.
I liked Bill’s idea of loading up on Sustanon since it’s long acting, but after a while of doing this(provided everything is in check). I could see the person going through a once every few months strip search with the boarder patrol after they got so big. Also, Chris and Cy: you guys have got to stop taking pictures of yourselves from 50 feet away, this is getting ridiculous. Great article though. Probably the best of its kind that I’ve read yet.
Thanks a lot, Adam. Your comments are very much appreciated. Considering my old college profs used to get on to me for “cursing too much” and writing about “disturbing things”, that’s a nice compliment, although not fully deserved.
TC and I both have degrees in English. TC has a BA in English language and literature and a BS in microbiology. I have a BA in English and psychology with an education emphasis. But honestly, I can’t say the degrees have much to do with writing, although the classes certainly don’t hurt (depends on the prof).
As Stephen King says in his ‘On Writing’ book, “Read a lot, write a lot.” Being a big reader is the real key to being a writer. Devouring thousands of books and articles is the only way to do it. There’s a lot more of course, but being an avid reader is the first step.
Thanks a bunch, Adam! I echo Chris’ thoughts about reading a lot.
I took all the appropriate classes, including a few technical writing courses, and learned how to “do it right.”
Then, I threw all the rules out the window. I really think that if I was to take some sort of creative writing or composition class, they’d flunk my sorry butt for not following convention.
TC, and Chris, both your writings inspire me and at the same time make me laugh. Ever thought of writing a screenplay for a movie? I swear, the stuff you guys can come up with could blow away all the fluff that’s in Hollywood!
