Two a Days/Feeder Workouts

Wondering if anyone any experience/success with doing a second session at night and what it entailed, i was running the volume portion of russian bear on dips and chins successfully but started to get lat and shoulder pain (bad pain not cool pain) despite getting stronger.

Generally speaking, to allow recovery and optimal performance, the second session should be as different as possible from the first. In terms of bodyparts worked, exercises performed, sets/reps, intensity… whatever you can change to make it a different workout. With few exceptions, the more similar the sessions, the more likely you’ll hit a roadblock.

Shoulder pain definitely isn’t uncommon with high volume and/or high frequency dips and chins. Regularly changing the grip is one of the simplest solutions, particularly fitting in neutral-grip chins, rings chins if possible, and thicker grips (the change in forearm recruitment helps to disperses joint stress).
