I just plain like Brookins. The way he carries himself, his attitude, the things he says…I think will carry him a long way in anything he chooses to do in life fighting or not.

^^THIS.
Seems like there is always a quite guy in the house who doesnt make a lot of noise with drinking and house drama but comes out and kicks ass. He hasnt gotten a lot of air time so far this season cause he keeps to himself which I like. I think/hope he will win it all this season. The way he won his fights was crazy. He made it look so easy and was so smooth. Those throws were sick.
ya, also maybe he does not get as much attention as others, because like I said, he is not an established stud from another sport, like some of the wrestlers and judokas on the show. He started out as a MMA guy. I hope he wins, but there is still a lot of fighting to go, but damn, your right, the ease at which he threw and choked out a champion Judo guy was pretty scary.
Kind of, he wrestled in college a little bit. What’s intersting though is everyone’s go to moves on the show. Mackenzie’s guillotine, Brookins ankle pick, throw and RNC, Nam Phan’s liver punch.

fair enough. I thought he (brookings) wrestled in highs school, which I dont consider a “background”, hell, i wrestled, boxed, and threw(shot and hammer) in HS, but the only sport I consider I have a solid background in is throwing as i competed for years at college level in throwing, and as an amateur in the AAU and HG circuit up into my 30’s.
I will say again just because, I love that kids attitude and the way he carries himself. I hope he becomes a star.
I smiled inside when in one of his (brookings) interviews, he said something to the effect of:
" I fear no man, and no man should fear another man, and I do not want to put that fear (of me) into another man, but you will RESPECT me (after we fight)".

that was gold.
HIPPY!!
Seriously though, I hope they build this guy up. Out of everyone in the house this season, he has the most potential.
His standup seems ok (for MMA), but not enough for the UFC LW div and certainly not for Jose fucking Aldo. He didn’t seem to have great fight IQ here either, but it was his 2nd year in the sport. That ‘lateral drive’ throw, as Miletich calls it in the video, seems to be his go to clinch attack. His shot needs work. Personally I think he did a good job not getting completely mauled by a P4P fighter.
^^He looks smaller in that fight than he does now (I think?) seems like he’s “filled out” a little more since that aldo fight… plus he rocks the ponytail and doesnt have to keep brushing his hair back out of his face. Thats probably why he seems like a better fighter now lol

yeah, i saw that…i figured he did okay for figthing Aldo. the only person to ever throw him too, if i’m not mistaken…

Brookins does have a nice lateral drop.
It good use of a a basic HS wrestling move- it can always work in the clinch, because people always push forward while clinching.

i was wondering what you thought about that… i’ve had people try that on me in BJJ lately, maybe to counter my clinch? i don’t always shoot for the double (i generally prefer to do a hip-toss), but i always fight for control in the clinch, i guess a lot more than most people.
i need to work on that though…it’s badass. Joe Stevenson did it in the TUF finale a while back when he fought Luke Coummo, too.

hmmm…i’m just gonna come right out and say it-Kos drinks pee.
i thought both fights tonight went as expected… Watson’s experience and general well-roundeness (is that a word?) paid off. it did seem like “English” was beat up…he just looked wore out from all his fights. for what’s it worth, i think he was a good futre as well.
Johnson won pretty easily agaisnt “Bruce,” but he was some serious work to do. i do like Johnson…seems like a decent guy who’s using his strengths but trying to develop as a fighter. really, i like most the fighters this season…
it was cool as shit to see Roach in there showing some boxing…cool how much the fighters appareciate it as well. makes me feel bad for the guys who were stuck on Ken Shamrock’s team even more…
as far as the matchups? i dunno…Johnson’s doing a lot of promo work, so i suspect he’s in the finals. i think Brookins can beat Watson, but Watson also is an experienced, tricky fighter… who knows?
I’m not sure. Brookins can take Kyle. His wrestling seems superior, at least enough to get him on top to rain damage. I doubt he’ll take Watson’s back like he did with the Armenians, but I suspect he’ll be able to score with GNP. Also, neither has great standup, but seeing how Brookins fought Jesus, I mean, Jose Aldo and lasted two rounds, I’m thinking his is probably better (yeah, don’t ask me how that works out, logic is for bitches).
Nam is a better fighter than Johnson, less green. Better standup, and probably a better ground game all round. But he seems to be susceptible to a good wrestler. If Cody could impose his weight on him and stifle his game, what’s Johnson gonna be able to do?

Yep, you’ve convinced me with your argument sir :D
It’s called putting shit together son.
Brookins did a good job against Watson. i think Watson is technical-he’s just not the natural athlete at the top echelon we’re seeing now.
Johnson did a good job agaisnt Nam…Nam really is only a FW, so i wouldn’t considered it a real loss.
it looks like they’re replaying the entire season on Saturday night before the Finale. i really liked the most of the fights form this season…i could do without Kos and all his deuchebaggery, but hwat are ya gonna do?
