he took that fight on short notice and mma math doesn’t work
anyways based on a comment nam made in an interview I predicted the Mckenzie Phan matchup
based on the comment i predict brookins beats sako and then fights nam in the semis, idk just a hunch
Agreed. Plus Thiago is a pretty bad matchup for him. I’d say the guy has a chance, though just a puncher’s one.
I was surprised England didn’t make a better account of himself with TDD. His sprawl seemed slow or something. Anyway, a brookins nam fight would kick ass. As would johnson vs “Matt Hughes’ BJJ coach” (whashisname?)
Well he did get GSP down in the first fight, it could come to who’s wrestling is better. I think GSP will look to finish the fight in this one and wouldn’t be suprised to see him win on the feet or for Koscheck to outwrestle George.

and i still hate Kos…blaming him and Tate for getting into it on GSP. then actiing as though he’s a brillant tactician by tricking GSP…as if he didn’t already get shown to be a moron with his fighter picks the first episode… i know some of it’s an act, but he really is the type of person i simply cannot stand.
The video extras on TUF’s website vindicate him somewhat. In that version he loses it after Tate takes shots on the Armenians, apologizes to his team for being a dick and ushering them out when they get into it with the medic.
I had a hard time believing anyone that successful in a sport that requires intelligence, good training partners, and good people surrounding you on a daily basis could really be that much of a douchebag. That footage shows Kos is being edited into the heel role.

Brookins in my fav to win the whole thing. even if he doesn’t, he’s got a ton of potential and pretty much do whatever he wants to in the sport. his RNC looked easy…amazing to do that on a world-class judoka.
i kind figured Nam would beat Cody, but Cody was able to do a decent job of implmenting GSP’s game plan. Nam is just too well rounded and experienced…i think now that the UFC absorbed the WEC’s weight classes, he will prolly drop down a class and have a good run.

Yeah, with his attitude and natural talent he could definitely go places IMO. Even if he doesn’t win this season, I see him going the furthest of anyone on the show in the long run.

Actually I don’t think it was Nam’s well roundedness that won him the fight (though I do agree that he was the more well rounded fighter), but instead Cody’s lack of experience/conditioning in later rounds (much like Carwin he was used to finishing his opponents in the first round). Had Cody not gassed, or paced himself better in the first round he probably would have won (at least a decision).
Ya’ll think GSP’s game plan for Cody helped him or hurt him?
I’m thinking his total lack of conditioning might have made that game plan… not the greatest for him: something that would allow him to win rounds/be in control, but not likely to finish the fight early.

well, i think he won the 1st rd because of the plan, but his conditioning cost him in the end. i think he wasn’t used to fighting that pace though, so i’m sure caused him some problems. but in all reality, i didn’t think that he would beat Nam…i think the gameplan allowed him to prolong the inevitable.
Nam seems to have a pretty good chin, and is pretty scrappy. I agree with whoever said earlier that he should cut to 145 and make a run.
I just plain like Brookins. The way he carries himself, his attitude, the things he says…I think will carry him a long way in anything he chooses to do in life fighting or not.
Brookings is another one of the prototypes of the new generation of MMA fighters out there. He is not a world class or elite level wrestler, BJJ, judo, boxer, whatever, who has crossed over. He started as a MMA guy and that IS his sport.
in the next 10 years I believe that is the way everyone will be in competitive MMA.

Helped. He didn’t do that great on the feet, and Nam has one heck of a ground game. Cody was bigger and would have been able to use that advantage to dominate against the cage and on top.
I agree with Sento here. It was more Cody gassing than anything else. I’d be interested to see Nam vs Kyle. I think Brookins, though we haven’t seen him defend a good shot, would take Johnson, Leroy, English and Nam.

^^THIS.
Seems like there is always a quite guy in the house who doesnt make a lot of noise with drinking and house drama but comes out and kicks ass. He hasnt gotten a lot of air time so far this season cause he keeps to himself which I like. I think/hope he will win it all this season. The way he won his fights was crazy. He made it look so easy and was so smooth. Those throws were sick.

ya, also maybe he does not get as much attention as others, because like I said, he is not an established stud from another sport, like some of the wrestlers and judokas on the show. He started out as a MMA guy. I hope he wins, but there is still a lot of fighting to go, but damn, your right, the ease at which he threw and choked out a champion Judo guy was pretty scary.
