Tsunami Bar

I was killing some time and saw these posted on Dave Tate’s log on elite:

I looked at the manufacturer’s website but it isn’t up yet.

I’ve screwed around with the bamboo bar bar, but never went very heavy with it. This thing looks insane and you can load it up. I read on one of the logs that somebody squatted 700 with it.

that just screws with my head…

Could have picked a better day to debut with that name

How the fuck are you supposed to load plates onto that bar?

I don’t care how much it costs. I am going to buy the shit out of that when it’s available.

i do a poor mans version of that. i attach some weights to a band/bungee cord on each side.

Sort of relevant to this. i just learned this past weekend that you can make a makehsift bamboo bar with a long-ass PVC pipe. I think it was around 3" diameter and plates were hung off the bar with bands. i realized i was not getting nearly tight enough for bench

High Tech… but more than 150lbs makes the “bar” explode:

yeah, looks neat. Here’s my “band bell” bar I made out of a fiber glass pole. It originally way a extension pole I got from lowes to wash my house, so mine is HOLLOW and weighs a pound or two… I’ve had 205 hanging off of bands and it doesn’t bend all that much. 205 was WAAAAY to wobbly for me. I’ve been keepin g it around 130-150# and doing reps. Its wobbly AS FUCK. Here’s a pic of mine.

I also googled fiberglass round stock and found a few really good sources for rods - both solid and tube, if you wanted to make you own bar for about $25. The rep I spoke to said that his 1" solid bar stock would easily hold 400# which is more than I’d ever bench on a bending ass rod… food for thought for us cheap asses.

SORRY THAT CAME OUT SIDEWAYS???

here’s the link to the place I checked into… http://www.mgs4u.com/fiberglass-tube-rod.htm

Where are you guys using these movements in your training? Is this something you do as an extra workout?

I use the bar in my pic because I have a torn labrum in my left shoulder. When benching it wobbles like hell. I have to stay super tight or it is impossible to bench. It’s a shoulder rehab / pre hab tool. I’m sure the guys in the EFS video are taking it to the next level.

All I know is that the real Bandbell bar is around $300… mine cost me about $25 and does the same shit. There NO telling what that Tsunami bar will cost.

I read Louie Simmons talk about using the Bandbell bar after his shoulder surgry too. So is it a rehab tool?

If I understand what he says, he first mad it to rehab his shoulders, but realized it is good to help people build stability and keep shit tight, as others have already posted. The way he talks about it I assume most everyone at Westside uses it at one point or another, but I may be wrong about that.
