Thanks yodaddy, it’s nice to get some positive feedback on my delts…they were a big focus for me during this past gaining phase

Thanks Grind, doing my best, means a lot coming from you! Your physique is along the lines of what I’d like to look like at some point, gotta dream big with those quads!

That’s nice of you, but I don’t think so haha, your contest shots were sick man!

13 week out update:

So I guess I was a little off with my math in counting the weeks until my first show, thought I was going to be 14 weeks out this weekend, but it’s actually 13 weeks! That gets me excited, as the first show happens to be the day after my last day of finals week as well, so I’m using the countdown to competing as a countdown to summer and a few months of freedom from class as well.

I actually have a pretty big announcement for you guys: I spoke with Brian on the phone this morning and I think we decided that I’m going to compete in a 3rd show in June, competing in…BODYBUILDING! I’m approaching this prep as a bodybuilder, and that’s what I want to do in the future, so we decided that it would be great to get my feet wet and get experience while I’m already in contest shape anyway.

It’ll make the diet a little tricky in June, as I’ll need to be as shredded as possible to be competitive in bb’ing at the 3rd show, but could also be docked for being too lean in physique at the second show. Oh well, if that happens then so be it. The May 17 show in physique is the one I’m really excited about; it’s an IFPA pro-qualifier, and I’m going to be gunning for that overall in physique. Never know who will show up, but judging by the shows I’ve attended, I think I’ll be competitive for it. I hit a new prep low of 184.6 this morning. I had been 183.2 this past Saturday, but I think that was kind of a fluke as I was battling the flu. There are no changes to my macros this week, remaining at 345 c, 250 p, 75 f, with two refeeds.

13 weeks out front relaxed. I need to start working on posing now with having the bodybuilding show in mind. I’ll probably start practicing once or twice a week with my good friend Jacob Trout, who’s also my coach through The Strength Guys

Back relaxed

Thought I’d toss up a couple physique style pictures as well. Still go some tightening up in the midsection to do

And a back physique pose:

12 weeks out update: I hit a new low of 183.8 this morning, and am happy with how things are progressing. My weight is dropping at a very reasonable rate, and I’m maintaining or increasing strength on all my lifts. Had my first baseball game of the season yesterday, and hit all my macros while eating on the road.

I think it’ll be very doable for away trips, just gotta be well prepared and plan ahead. Brian lowered my macros to 330 c, 70 f, and 250 p for low days, with two refeeds of 550 c, 60 f, and 230 p. He also increased the length of my two weekly HIIT sessions.

Front relaxed

Back relaxed. My calves need a ton of work next offseason, but I’m happy with the beginning of some hamstring separation here

I know you are doing physique, but for 12 weeks out, you could easily achieve the conditioning necessary to do a bodybuilding show.
Great work so far.

Ha, ha, sorry about that. Sometimes when I get busy and miss a lot of posts, I just jump to the end. That’s exciting news!

Haha it’s all good! I’m really excited about it, been working posing quite a bit, it’s tough haha. By the way, I had a free hour this afternoon before practice and read through most of your contest thread, I’m very motivated to try to get that TimMcbride conditioning!

11 weeks out

Hey guys! Everything is going about as smoothly as it could be so far in my prep. I hit a new low of 181.4 lbs this morning, putting me at about 12 lbs down from my starting weight of 193. That’s about perfect for 9 weeks of dieting, and I’m maintaining or increasing strength on just about all my lifts. I’ve been getting a little frustrated with some of my upper body pressing the last few weeks, as my shoulders are getting pretty sore as they always do when baseball season is in full swing.

I’m trying to be smart about it, but really want to keep pushing hard to maintain strength and lbm. We were supposed to play a 4 game series this weekend, which would have meant leaving town early Friday morning and not getting home until late Sunday night, but the temperature is only going to be about 10 degrees Saturday and Sunday, so we’re just playing a double header on Friday and then coming home that night.

I wasn’t too disappointed, as packing food for 3 days would’ve been a little tough lol. Brian didn’t make any changes to my macros this week, so still sitting at 5 low days of 330 c, 70 f, and 250 p. Two refeeds of 550 c, 60 f, and 230 p
