Good implement to have on hand, especially if you’re working with taller athletes.
In terms of brand, I can’t say that I’ve heard that one is better than another. You can get a great model at elitefts.com, and they’re top notch when it comes to customer service.
I have a trap bar, I like to use it for farmers walks.
I dont know what brand mine is, i got it at a local wieght lifting shop.
I got mine at www.fractionalplates.com quite a few years ago. If I remember correctly, it was less than $200 including shipping. No complaints at all.

Do you guys find the lift with a trap bar compatible to a traditional deadlift?
I’ve got a hex bar; it’s really nice!
I own a trap bar and use it on occasion. It seems to protect the lower back more than a straight bar. I think it’s ideal for rehab, or a change of pace.
I can’t squat properly because of my lack of flexibility. The trap bar has allowed me to perform a deadlift/squat movement and has increased my flexibility. I’d be lost without this implement.
I work out at Gold’s. One gym has the Shrug Bar (with the hexagonal shape and raised handles), the other one I goto has the regular trap bar. I use the shrug bar on Mondays. I weigh 160, can DL 320 for reps with the Shrug Bar. My back is bad and wont be getting better till I stop working in warehouses. However, I have NO BACK PAIN AT ALL using the shrug bar and going all out with it.

I have the basic shrug/trap bar. OLY sized, non-revolving sleeves, non-polished, regular handles, no extensions.

Love mine - Lets me do a squat without danger of re-injuring back. Feels like a mix between a squat and a deadlift. Also good for shrugs, if you do them.
