Trap Bar Deads and Squats

OK i’ve been thinking about this i maxed out a 270x3 on trap bar deadlifts. I know these use alot of leg strength and its very similar to a squat. But there is no way i could full squat or power squat(westside style) 270 x 3. Cause i full squated 195x3 and dont really know what i can power squat right now. But is it just the placement of the bar that makes it different?

Its the fact that its a deadlift and not a squat. They are totaly different exercises.

The bar placement in the squat is miles away from your pivot point exerting enormous torque on your lever arm. The Trap bar dead is alot closer to the pivot point and is generally easier. Thats also why its easier than conventional deads which has the load further away from the pivot point. But as deads and squats are different exercises you can’t really compare. Some people are better at deads and some are better at squats. If you have a long body and short arms you will not be built for deads. For squats a short body and short femurs helps. Elite lifters tend to squat more than they dead. (Squat WR is 1075lb and Dead is 933lb)
Also many people can see their dead poundages increase by training their squat but the reverse is often not true. These are all generalisations and everybody is different! Find what works best for you.

I was just curious cause i knew the trap bar deadlift used alot of leg strength. I dunno why more people dont use this exercise, i can overload my legs with way more weight than deads or squats, and it will also help increase my dead and squat poundage.

If you know it helps your deads and squats then by all means use it. But don’t just assume it will help increase those lifts.
