Hi Ellington,
Just wondered what your thoughts were on using training supports such as belts, knee wraps etc. I currently use a belt and knee sleeves on Squats and lifting straps for deadlifts but rarely use anything else.
Thanks

I try to use as little of that stuff as possible because I feel like it masks issues and I would rather work through any issues I have rather than ignore them and let them turn into bigger problems. I occasionally use straps on something like Meadows Rows where the bar is too thick to grip for a full set, but otherwise I avoid it because your hand contacts provide valuable feedback.
When i started HIT training, I did not feel the need to use lifting supports
I put neoprene sleeves on every hinge joint I’ve got!
As you get older, they may be helpful. But don’t become dependent on any of them.
I always used straps for deadlifts and heavy shrugs. I wouldn’t be able to hold onto the weight for the duration of the set for deadlifts. The ones I use , which aren’t made anymore , are called Meeko Power Grips which were designed and made by a 80’s Mr. America Joe Meeko. After he passed his sister took it over and continued an improved version which I’m glad I got when I did because they aren’t around anymore, either. Sometimes I wear a belt for DL’s, but rarely. I think about knee sleeves sometimes since my knees have gotten kind of weird, but just can’t stand the feel of any of that stuff.
Anytime my knees start to act up, acupuncture takes care of it for 6-8 weeks before needing it again. Hoping it stays that way !
