Training Personal Records Part 3

hit a 10lb reverse band bench PR and just missed a 20lb PR and… i used that naughty suicide grip.

reverse band bench press- 655x1

Got 205x10 on bench yesterday.

Got 2 PRs this week. The first one was a 300lb bench lockout from pins set about 6 inches off the chest and a 405lb rack pull from 2 inches below the knee. I’m looking to hit a 285 bench and a 405 deadlift when it comes time to max out in the next couple of weeks here.

Luke

410 Bench, 585 deadlift, 495 squat this week.

Just got 2 more PRs this week. Hit 245 on CGBP last night for easy single, gonna go for 255 next week, maybe more depending on how I feel. Then today, I hit a 345 parallel box squat against doubled minis for a really easy single. I’m thinking 365-385 next week.

Luke

hit the weight i missed last week on reverse band bench press- 665x1 +10lb PR. the bench we use for this is very narrow and as a result i get a little off center that leads to the uneven lockout. even with that, i felt very strong on this set. next week i’ll take 675 for a ride.

we need to get a wider bench for our dungeon.

Hey big guy I got 2 questions:

What kind of program are you running now, if any?

What kind of carry over do you think reverse band presses have on your raw bench press?

Since I posted here, I’ll go ahead and throw out a few PRs from this week:

Close Grip Bench Press (after DE Sets) 225x17 (1 rep PR)
Chain Suspended Cambered SSB Good Morning 455x3 (2 rep PR)

i recently started a 12 week peaking cycle for our next meet coming up at the end of October. the cycle is 3- 4 week waved minicycles. I use three bench movements with each building upon itself with weight. for example, i use raw, full ROM bench as a warmup. today i worked up to 405x5 on raw, full ROM bench. then i moved on to the Titan starting with 405 and working up to 495 with that. then i finished with reverse band bench bench starting with 495 and working up to a heavy single with 665. i then backed off with close grip bench as a finisher working up to 375. i really like reverse band benching because of it’s accomodating resistance without really beating you up. throughout the peaking cycle i will rotate in board presses and pressing against chains for supramaximal work.

couple days ago…I tied an all time rep record in the conventional deadlift with 225kg x 11.

I did 225 x 11 in my 20’s. but they were completely RAW…

the one I did the other night I used a belt and straps. so not a real rep record, but at my age (43) I’ll take it.
edit. just got the results of my MRI. apparently I hit that 225kg x 11 with a bulged cervical disc (c6-c7) compressing my spine.

so I will definitely take that as a record.
holy hell. Best of luck for whatever you do about that

monopoly, dixie, again, thanks for asking, scheduled for a cervial fusion and mico disectomy of c4-5, c6-7 in september. doc does not want me doing ANY weightlifting right now, and looking at a 3 month down time ater surgery before i can start lifting again. suposed to wear a cervical collar whenever I drive a motor vehicle or a ride a bike until surgery, neurosurgeon says if I take a minor trauma to my neck before I get it fixed i could be paralyzed form mid chest down.

so typoical me, I am still working full time, even though he offered to write me up for full disability, offered narcotics which I refused, have not got the collar yet, and I am still lifting/training, albeit very light.

lol, I am my own worse enemy.

Far be it for me to tell you how to live… but after the lay-away from surgery you can always take time to make up for lost gains. If you get paralyzed you’ll never be back were you before… Just something to consider.

455x1 deadlift (+20lb PR) and 275x1 bench (+15lb PR). Havn’t maxed any of the big three in a while curious to see squat weight (335lb current best). Back rounded quite a bit on the deadlift PR but glad I stuck with it.

got 285x6 times on bench yesterday

Hit 55kg x 7 military press, 165kg x 9 and 172.5kg x 7 deadlifts during this months 5/3/1 cycle. So I’m well on the way to my goal of 500lbs deadlift by the end of the year.
I also got my first belt this week. EliteFTS single prong economy belt. Feels good.

This is me pulling 177.5kg x 4 at the end of my last 5/3/1 cycle.

pulled 545 beltless yesterday. best dl ever is 555 w/ belt so ill take it as a pr

Khalid Shadid deadlifts 705lbs at the Wabdl Southwest regionals for a TX deadlift record.

damn nice pull khalid.

The speed of it is insane up til just past the knees, where the video seems to get stuck for a second.

Thanks guy. It went up smooth all the way to lockout. I have More vids on this thread and some on Youtube. I’m usually fast off the floor and if I have any problems it’s going to be at lockout. P.S. Sorry about the poor vid quality.
