Hit 415x10 beltless deadlift. Felt easy!

Spock,
You can rep 85% of your max for 10, after just working up to your max? That is crazy…I don’t think I can get 85% of my max for more than, say, 6 reps?
I think this is pretty common and there was an article not too long about it. I was doing Josh Bryant’s programming and he had a big down set of 10 after heavy 1-3 rep efforts.
I was surprised at the amount of weight I could get the 10 for in the downset and it was hard, but the bar just kept coming back up.

YEAH! I could tell the 115 set was gonna be awesome cause it felt so crazy light after the 135, ha!
I’ve always wanted to be confident at the 35lb plates, now I gotta get strong at 135 so i can rep it too, woot !
I’ve seen a couple of coaches touch on this. For some reason, women tend to be able to get more reps with a given % of their max. I’m sure there are a thousand factors involved
If I recall correctly women have less fast twitch fibers then men so the disparity between maximal force output and what you’d be able to do for more reps is less.
This was what I thought it was, I just couldn’t remember if I thought that because I read it, or it was just a guess
I got a 265 zercher today after not being able tobudge it on the first try. I’m pretty psyched!

I have to ask. What kind of Zercher lift? A zercher deadlift? A zercher pin GM? A zercher squat from the floor? Zercher squat from parallel? A box Zercher?
And congrats.

It was a zercher squat from pins set up a bit lower than my balls

I’m 18, so I doubt my balls would hang so low that they were below my knees. I was maybe an inch above parallel at the start of the lift.
Sunday - Squat/Pull day
SSB Box Squats - 275 x 4sets x 3reps
These were brutal. Haven’t used the SSB in awhile, let alone on a box (shit, haven’t used the box in a month). Very humbling. Still a volume PR though. Most I had ever done on these was 295 for one triple and 315 for a single.
Rack Pulls mid knee level
525 for a double and a single (more like a rest-pause triple). That was awesome!
Monday - DE Upper
Decline thumbs-from-smooth CGBP - 235x6, 225x8, 8 (rep PRs)
These were great. I really feel the tris working on the Decline and have been doing these for the last month. We’ll see how they transfer.
Got a five pound bench PR at APF Masters Nationals May 27. 479
300x8 squat PR
265x4x4 paused squat PR

I don’t know if its less fast twitch or less ability to recruit them. In one of his books Rippetoe talks about training females for bodybuilding, and they could do a ton of forced reps after failure, much more than men.
I was getting at post activation potentiation, and I think an article by Bret Contreras discussed it a bit. I see guys all the time talking about doing jumps and whatnot before heavy squats, but I think he gave the example of Ben Johnson doing heavy squats directly before sprints or something.
Dan John hand another workout like that, where you do power cleans or front squats, then take off in a sprint or heavy sled drag. A Litvinov complex or something like that.

Good to know…in retrospect that was an odd question for me to bust your balls over. rimshot

its no biggie home slice. but why the interest if it was below my knees?
Finally got past 285 on bench and got 290. It also went up pretty fast. It’s not impressive, but I am happy.
I like how you fit plates on there pushharder

Just curious how other people have them set. I do mine just above the knees personally. Having it at or below the knees would mean you’d have to neanderthal round-back that shit up haha…don’t see too many dudes doing that.
Was aiming for 405x6-7 on RDLs to the top of my shins and got 405x9. Felt really good after stinking it up on my ME work before that.
Today: ME Upper
-Competition bench, reverse light bands top of rack (no idea how much they take off - I always set them up the same way), fat bar:
375x2 - +1 rep PR. Wasn’t even much of a grinder. Awesome!
-Same set-up, but close grip (thumbs form smooth)
325x5, 315x2 setsx5 reps
Easy! Weight PR!
- Semi-strict Military Press
135x3 setsx10 reps (+2 reps PR)
Not a very eventful week by any means. Shit sucked. Did however hit a 345x5 low box squat and a 385x3 zercher from pins, followed by a 410 single.
