PR on video editing:
Strict press 215x5 +10 pound for a 5 rep max (though I’ve done 6 at 210)
Squatted 445 + 175 band tension today for a very quick single.
Nice squat LM.
Benched 275x1 paused for a 20lb PR today and pulled 425x1 conventional for a 60lb PR
hit a 10lb meet PR on bench today at my new competition bw and then went on to hit 550 with the Titan Ram for a fourth attempt. This was done in the 22nd annual weightlifting unlimited bench meet in winchester, va
. there was a big turnout with over 50 lifters.
i finished the daywith a first place in my weight class for raw bench, first place in my weight division for slingshot/titan, best overall sligshot/titan lifter, and best overall raw lifter.
What was your bodyweight Meat-ski? So you dropped to the 242s, benched 510 with a pause and proceeded to “ram” a 550…wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt…this is fucking impressive man! I presume that got you a top 50 bench on plwatch (an old goal of yours)? Effin monster.
Now heal up those ITBands and lets see you squat and pull some big numbers again!

Are you using straps? I’ve had no luck pulling heavy with straps. For some reason, nothing wants to fire unless my hands are set properly on the bar. I’ve had success with light weight reps and they’re awesome for rows.

i was down to 246 on monday and came down with a cold. i made the decision then to just eat normal and not attempt to drop more weight. i ate normally the rest of the week and weighed in right before the meet at 250. this wasn’t a sanctioned meet so it really didn’t matter. it worked though… i felt better heading into the meet. now that it’s behind me i’ll go back to watching my carbs again.
after watching the hornstra video here in the powerlifting section i decided to give his style of benching a try in this meet. i’ve always rowed the weight down with my lats and kept them very tight at the chest. unfortunately this takes a lot of energy to do and at times makes the press very hard and slow. for shits and giggles i basically allowed the bar to come down with very little resistance. i then allowed it to really sink all the way into my chest. literally all of the weight is resting on my chest. once i get the press command i press with all my force. i have to tell you…it worked like a charm. even the 510 felt light. i also took my grip in a little bit to get more tricep in the initial press off the chest. i’ll keep messing with it to see how high i can go with it.
i think the IT bands are healed. now it’s just a matter of getting my strength back. i’m going to stick with front squats for awhile and concentrate on my deadlift. i plan to do a push/pull next and i want a minimum of a 1200 total.
i got two tonite. just got a slingshot in the mail. first time ever in one. hit 495
then i went on to add 30 to my squat for 635.
Monster on that squat Gabe. Killed it!

This is not a PR, but I finally was able to do dips yesterday without hurting my shoulders. That is a big step for me, especially knowing that my shoulders are getting better.
Ht a pr deadlift of 615 at. 196.5 at the ironsport open last Saturday .
bench has been taking off lately. started a new bench cycle tonight using foam press as our main variation. i looked back in my journal and i’ve hit 545 for a single touch and go. i was amazed that i hit that easily tonight with a long pause. here’s 520 and 545.
