Training on Anti Biotics

I have an ear infection and I’m on anti biotics…What are the opinions on training while on anti-biotics…it’s levaquin (levofloxacin)

is it an inner ear or outter ear infection? i had a doctor tell me to use alcohol and vinegar for an outter ear infection, and it works great.

Hey, not a doctor here, but I’ll put my .02 in.

Levaquin is a class of antibiotics called quinolones…powerful stuff. Really I don’t think there should be any problems. Rxlist.com made a mention about discontinuing exercise if you believe you ruptured a tendon while taking Levaquin, but did not say that levaquin had any significant effect on tendon strength. Some people experience lightheadedness when using these type of drugs, which could possibly affect your training. If it were me, I’d keep training, but might scale back the intensity until I was sure of how my body was responding to the treatment. If you want to read more than you ever wanted to know, check out rxlist.com and type in your drug name…fun stuff!

also, once you’re finished with your antibiotics, be sure to take a lot of probiotics. you could get the capsule form, and take 4 of those with every meal. it will take time to get the good baceria back into your gut, but it’s extremely important.

sorry i don’t have an answer for your actual question.

Not sure actually. I’m assuming inner ear. I only have to take it for a few days and I’m gonna keep training.
I’m not ‘on’ so that’s not a concern. I’m just wondering if I should take it easy or watch out for anything in particular.

It’s funny we’re all equally obsessed.

I’m on rxlist anytime I get prescribed anything and read about it. It’s a great site.
I saw that thing about levoquin and tendons.
I also take probiotics but since my levoquin is taken 1x per day I can take the probiotcs at a separate time.
I’m gonna cut back a little on the intensity, which is a shame cause I am using CT’s Ascending Descending training and I love it.
Thanks guys
