Pretty happy with this, the goal is 3 sets of 5 and the most I’ve ever gotten was 3sets of 3. I am sure I could have gotten at least 5 on the first set, if I didn’t get so excited.

Nice! 3x5 next week

Can’t wait to see your next ME bench day.

c.

Kalle - Wow!

gbench - great job on repping 170lb. 3x4 with 170lb is awesome.

I need to start doing negatives again. It’s been awhile:)

Hope you neck is okay!

Thanks Claire and yes my neck is a little better, I will have it adjusted tomorrow morning and I should be good as new!

I really like the negatives, they help me get use to feeling heavy weight, so when I do put it on the bar, its not such a shock to me

Tuesdays Arm workout:

Rack Lockouts:
225x5
275x5
295x5
305x4 Long hold on the 4th rep
(ok, last week I struggled with 305 for 1rep, this week it was easier, I am sure it was because I was training at a different gym on a different powerrack, so I must have had a shorter ROM.) Either way it felt good moving that weight!

DB Bicep curls:
35lbx8
35x7
35x6

V-bar tricep pressdowns
110x8
120x8
120x8

Rope curls on Cable X machine
80x8
90x8
90x8

Tricep pushups: one set of 30 reps

G

Tonights Log and DL training:

Log presses:
logx5
95x3
100x2
105x1
100x3
105x2
110x1
105x3
110x2
115-missed, not even off my chest :frowning:
115-missed, off my chest this time
115-missed, couldn’t clear my head :frowning:

Deads:
warmup 135x5
205x3
215x2
225x1
215x3
225x2
235x1
225x3
235x2
245-missed it, didn’t stay tight, just went up and yanked it…terrible!
245x1 Got it!

Glute Hams 3 sets

Hoz. Lat Pull Machine: 3 sets of 10

Ok, so heres my question for you guys: where would you guys recommend me being at in regards to deadlifting before entering my first push/pull meet? I know I have to start somewhere, but what number would you guys suggest? With my bench being so high, I don’t want to look totally “unproportional”.

Thanks

thanks C. I guess if I look at it from a “totals” point of view, it would be like benching 150 and pulling 300. which still comes out to almost the same total.

G

I HIT 190 today!!!

I am definitely on a lifting high right now!
So today was BENCH day and all is good. Ok, so my goal was to pause 185 and go for 190. Last singles day I hit 185 for a touch and go and missed 190.

Warmup
bar
95
135
155

175x 1 (with a pause)
185x 1 (with a pause)
190x 1 touch and go (hips came up just slightly, but no problem with getting the weight up)

I have both the 185 and 190 on tape, I will download soon

Skipped inclines (I pulled my neck last week doing them and don’t want to risk it again)
I’ll get back to them soon enough.

Deline Barbell:
170x5
170x5

Speed Presses:
135x5
135x5

Topped it off with a 90 minute massage!!

Life is Good!

G

Awesome job on the bench.

I agree with c. Your numbers look great. You could definitely do a push/pull meet.

Claire

Heres the 185, my hips engage but they don’t leave the bench :). I have another training partner being my “side judge”

Thanks Claire, I think I will go for a push/pull my next meet. There are a couple of meets I am looking at in March. If I enter a full meet, just so I can deadlift, can I completely skip the squats or do I have to at least make a squat attempt?

Thanks
G

You make that look so easy.
Great job.

I think for your deadlift and bench to count you have to have at least one good squat. Not positive. Malinda would know. You could pick a low weight to squat.

thanks so much Diana!

Heres the 190 for a touch and go. My hips did come off the bench, just slightly though.

I remember the first time I hit 185, you could put a basketball under my butt!

I don’t know why this video did not load. I’ll try again later.

Tonights Arm workout (more of a tricep workout)

I normally do JM Presses for 3 sets of 5 but skipped this one and went right into Rack Lockouts.

Back at my regular gym, where I know the correct rack height. Last time (at this gym), struggled with 305 and squeezed out one rep. Shooting for 315 tonight.

Rack Lockouts, just above 90 degrees:
225x5
245x5
265x5
275x5
295x5
315x5!!!
I am sure the fact that this was my first exercise for the evening helped. I can’t believe how easy 315 was, no struggles what so ever!

V-bar pressdowns:
3sets of 8 of 120lbs

Full body dips to failure- one set

DB curls:
30lbx6
15x12
10x40
20x6

Abs (Claire’s routine from Youtube) I love these Claire!!!

Cardio: 20 minutes on bike

I’ve increased my calories for the past 2 weeks and I think that has really helped with me setting new PRs lately. I feel so much stronger. side affect is I am starving ALL THE TIME!!! I am eating every 2 hours and I don’t mean apples and cheese sticks either  My weight is up to 127.5! Thats why I decided to tack on a little Cardio after workouts.

The 185lb bench video was great. I love how you set yourself up and the weight looked easy:)

I tried your bicep routine again. Increased the weights and definitely felt it the next day.

Glad you liked the ab routine. That’s what I love about logs is finding new ideas for training. I got the link from a guy’s log on another website. My abs are my weakness so I am trying to train them more. So easy to just decide to skip abs.

I hear you on the starving all the time. I increased my calories and loved the full feeling but after about a week my body wants more food. I decided to keep the calories but cut the carbs down and add more protein and fat. I still eat a good amount of carbs just complex and only during certain times of the day. Weight is stable which is what I want.

Workouts look awesome and congrats on the PRs. You are going to hit that 200lb bench soon.

Claire

What is this ab routine? Would you mind (re)posting a link?
