I should probably preface this by saying that I work for a company that sells grills, among other things. However, since it’s just a local business here in St. Louis, you can trust that I’m not trying to sell you guys anything, just giving a review based on professional experiences. We sell probably 15 other brands of grills and I love this baby more than anything else, although my infrared grills do steak a tad better if you like them rare or med-rare.
In short, TRAEGER GRILLS ROCK.
It’s basically like cooking on a wood fire. Electricity ignites the flavored wood pellets, then a fan blows on the flame to keep it nice and hot. The amount of flavor added to the meat is amazing.
I’ll take Sam’s frozen chicken breasts, defrost them in the microwave, then throw them on this grill for 20 minutes and they taste like freakin gourmet even though I haven’t added a single thing for flavor.
They’re not the cheapest thing in the world (start out at $699) but they eliminate the need for a gas or charcoal grill. Also, if you put it on low heat it functions as a smoker.
If you’re a big time meat eater, this is one of those things that can really improve the taste of even the most boring things (and as bodybuilders, we eat a ton of boring things). I can’t recommend it more highly and suggest everybody find a local dealer who carries them and check them out. The dealer locator on the Traeger website sucks total balls so you might have to call the 800 number to find a dealer, but it’s worth it.
