I’m putting this in GAL as it’s not REALLY a supplement or nutrition question.
So I got one of these puppies today and now I’m trying to figure out all the kinds of food that I can throw on it in order to create muscle friendly goodness.
What do you guys like to cook on this type of grill?
How exactly do you go about this? (what spices, do you marinate the meat beforehand, etc)
Pretty much anything you might think to put on it, can go on it. Marinate or season before tossing it onto the GFG, and if you think whatever your cooking might stick, just spray put a little oil on the grill before you cook. I’ve even grilled veggies on it and they turned out fine, however, I would probably stay away from grilling fish(at least it didn’t turn out well for me).
I found that it perfectly cooks bacon, due to the slant that allows the grease to drip down. Otherwise I use the regular propane BBQ for everything else. PERFECT BACON
I think steak on one of these things is pretty atrocious(not to mention sacreligious), but chicken breasts sure stay moist in them. Check out www.allrecipes.com for lots of chicken marinades. Easy and tasty.
The GFG is not good for steaks, well at least the way i like them. It never gets hot enough to put a nice sear on it, and if you don’t really watch it, you’ll have a well done over cooked steak in 5 mins. I’ve pretty much cooked everything on mine. At culinary school, we actually had an iron chef battle with our heat source only coming from a GFG. My favorite has got to be chicken thighs marinaded with some soy sauce, cayenne, pepper, salt, and lemon grass.

I get some pretty good steaks off my Foreman, but chicken is my favourite on there too.

Wasn’t Charles Poliquin hating on them as they release titanium over time? I read this in another thread but I doubt I’ll be able to find it. [/quote]
Just take more fish oil to balance it out.
I mostly use mine for burgers, but sometimes I’ll put sausage on in to brown up after I boil them.
I only use mine when its raining outside or the deck + gas grill are covered in snow. I find it kind of flattens everything i cook and burns it on the outside rather quickly. I might upgrade my grill though. Mines one of the first generation that doesnt have any controls on it. Just on (plugged in) or off (not plugged in).
I use mine for chicken breast, steak, salmon, burgers, and bison. Mine doesn’t do to well if the meat/poultry is to thick so I just slice it in half if it is. Also just watch it because it can burn your food quick.
