No, it’s my experience with serious training environments. They generally don’t take kindly to people wanting to tourist in and dick around in their private gym.

Your naive tone suggests you’ve never trained anywhere remotely like that and have no clue what you’re talking about.

Now take your skinny jeans and scurry.

You should never assume mate because to assume is to make an ass out of you and me.

LOL you think I’m going to wander in to METAL and start curling in the powerrack? Get a grip mate I’ve been training for years in ‘serious’ gyms.

This isn’t a naive tone mate. It’s just a tone that refuses to adhere to the general hate/flame atmosphere that this forum is ridden with. Some people have a generally upbeat outlook and don’t get caught up in all this ‘serious/alpha’ delusion you and others seem to revel in.

Regardless I thank you for informing me of the entry method to METAL and have taken your criticisms on board:-)

I don’t think you completely understand how many of these “hardcore gyms” work. While these gyms are open to new members, the members must meet a certain standard and share the same goals as the gym.

Because of the nature of our sport, these often become tight-knit groups. And while I’ve never met a powerlifter that wasn’t willing to help out a newbie, you have to prove that you’re worth the time.

These gyms usually have less to do with money and memberships and more to do with performance, and if you aren’t performing, you might be out.

I know what you mean Buckeye. I sometimes work in a building which houses a powerlifting club. It’s a fairly intense enviroment which demands standards from their lifters. However as you say it’s a great bunch of guys who are more than willing to help anyone.

To be fair I hadn’t even heard of METAL and since it was in Helsinki(where close members of my family reside) I thought I would pipe up and ask for the co ordinates. However it was naive of me to think that one of the usual alpha overlords wouldn’t pipe up with yet another derogatory comment. However out of that negativity I was able to find out that my chances of using METAL were relatively slim(like my jeans) so I thank Stronghold for that.

Thanks for the advice Buckeye much appreciated.

It’s a private powerlifting gym that is home to some of the strongest men in Europe. You don’t “show up, pay your money, and lift weights.” You have to be invited to train there and given the huge amount of vag eminating from your posts, I don’t think you’re in line to get an invite.

Regardless of the method of entry I fail to see how a gym can be intimidating.

[/quote]if you could read.I didnt mention anything about intimidating.but i can bet if somebody like you walked in you would be intimidate.

Perhaps Jack was having trouble reading your posts because you don’t use proper punctuation or spacing with that punctuation.

As opposed to what, your bench PR of 250?

I also laughed at the part where skinny jeans guy said “I’ve been training at serious gyms for a few years now” and still fits into said skinny jeans.

I laugh at all the elitist morons here.
