Well you do learn something new everyday…
But yes it was just a joke.
People are always going to argue about what gym is the most hardcore and I think we all know westside has a reputation for being hardcore, but I have to agree that as long as YOUR mental attitude is right it doesn’t matter where you train. I have never worked out at a YMCA, honestly, but I never knew they were thought of as glamorous.
I am also trying to figure out the purpose of Miami Valley Weightlifting Club not allowing women. It actually motivates me when I am somewhere and I see a woman hitting it just as hard as I am.

thats been the rule from back in the days and it still stands. Also they have only one restroom.I LIKE to hit it when i get home bro.peace
as long as the gym allows you to wear headphone (loud music) and they have power racks and 100 lb plates, its a good gym, eah westide is a great place, the mecca of powerlifting IMO but if you dont have it, its not gonna make you less of a lifter. you look at marudermeat’s gym, and it dont look hardcore, but yet hes one strong motherfucker. hardcore is what you make it or are allowed to make it.
Wow…I guess only people that train at these “hardcore” gyms are the only ones that are ever going to make any decent progress. I guess if we cant train at Westside or wherever, we should all just give up eh?
/Sarcasm.
In case you guys were wondering:
The use of the word “hardcore” while searching, mixed with any other word combination, will produce at least 3 NSFW images per page.
Carry on.

I hope not, since I workout at home.

how many world class powerlifters has the mental facility put out?I will put money on it westside has more record holders than any gym in the world. And by the way you have to be invited to go to westside.[/quote]
Metal Gym is Ano Turtiainen’s gym. Ano owns Metal Gear and has an 800+ deadlift. Something smells like troll…what kind of powerlifter doesn’t know what Metal is? Especially one that supposedly trains/trained at WSB…

Judging by your skinny jeans thread, I doubt that’s really your type of atmosphere.

And that’s why you can only rep 495 on your inclines…weak brah.

LOL Get over yourself mate. Been to Finland many times and it’s possibly the most sterile, humourless place on the face of the earth. So devoid of personality that people have to drink vast amounts of alcohol in an effort to summon any hint of a personality.
And how can an atmosphere in a gym possibly intimidate? You go in, pay your money and lift weights. It’s hardly the foreign legion you’re joining. Jesus some people get soooo pretentious about how ‘core’ a gym is.

It’s a private powerlifting gym that is home to some of the strongest men in Europe. You don’t “show up, pay your money, and lift weights.” You have to be invited to train there and given the huge amount of vag eminating from your posts, I don’t think you’re in line to get an invite.

Regardless of the method of entry I fail to see how a gym can be intimidating.

I never said it would intimidate you. I said you probably wouldn’t be welcome there.
Now take your girl jeans and scurry along.

I’m sure they would be more than willing to accommodate a foreigner eager to learn some new methods. If you don’t ask you don’t get.
Your negative tone suggests that this concept is lost on you.

No, it’s my experience with serious training environments. They generally don’t take kindly to people wanting to tourist in and dick around in their private gym.
Your naive tone suggests you’ve never trained anywhere remotely like that and have no clue what you’re talking about.
Now take your skinny jeans and scurry.

Judging by your avatar, I think it’s pretty easy to guess which method of entry your prefer.

You should never assume mate because to assume is to make an ass out of you and me.
LOL you think I’m going to wander in to METAL and start curling in the powerrack? Get a grip mate I’ve been training for years in ‘serious’ gyms.
This isn’t a naive tone mate. It’s just a tone that refuses to adhere to the general hate/flame atmosphere that this forum is ridden with. Some people have a generally upbeat outlook and don’t get caught up in all this ‘serious/alpha’ delusion you and others seem to revel in.
Regardless I thank you for informing me of the entry method to METAL and have taken your criticisms on board:-)
