toothpick legs

My legs are the same size all the way down. Help. I have always been selfconscience of it as well. I can extend my legs and you can see the three heads of the quads but it is like the mucle is 4 inches long and the tendons going up to my hips are like 12 inches long. Don’t laugh, it does. What I think I may lack is the outter thigh development. ANyway, there you go. Any advice. Just geting back into working out as well and I would like to develop my thigh area more.

Why don’t you start with telling us what your leg workouts look like and your diet?

Advise: Do Squats!

1)Massive Eating/Get your diet in order (you sound like you may be an ectomorph?)

  1. Squats, squats and more squats!

(P.S. The Lion DUCKS because of all the Barbian Hordes that will follow about “not needing/can’t do/won’t do/you never need” squats!!!)

well you are probly already doing squats/deadlifts/leg extentions...etc. (if not, Do them) As a soccer player, big legs come natually from running, running, and more running. Heres a little routine we would always do.

We didnt run maraton style all day. We would first do a warm up lap, but we would go military style (slow, in 2 lines, and at the same beat) We then did some light streching. After which we did jump squats ( thoses are killer ) and then a drill where you would cut across a series of cones (a long series, close together) Sprint across the field, and well placed shot on the goal. (anyone can kick hard, but it is much harder to use your leg to place a ball) Next where lunge blocks. We would get a partner get about 10 yards apart and using one leg as a pivot foot, and one as the lunge leg. your partner would try to pass the ball past you (that means keep it low) while you would try and lunge for the block. Now if they did get it past you, you have to do 5 jump squats. If you missed it again, you would do 10, and it would keep adding on until the coach said stop.( about 15 min ) 

After that we split up into offence and defence, and played for the rest of the day, but those drills are hard. It may or may not be scientific, but I dont know one soccer player (male or female past age 13) with small legs.   

eat, squat, deads, and lay off the cardio. Move Heavy weight.

I do the mentioned, squats, deadlifts,leg extensions,etc. I have to admit that I do not push myself because I am on my feet all day going up and down stairs and walking the site where I work. I understand that I am going to have to punish myself to gain in this area. Should I put more focus on my legs than the rest of my body for the time being. My upper body isn’t just ripped but it is ok, athletic looking let’s call it. I do understand the anabolic benefits from squats and deadlifts. Kinda like, do the legs and the rest will follow thing? I do no cardio by the way. Any ideas? Thank for all the help too!

To Mufasa, yes I am an ectomorh. I think I have a hyperactivity disorder so I am either going all out or sleeping. My body seems to respond well to likw eight gainer and protein drinks. And my metabolism is something like, eat a meal and then go to the bathroom with in 30 minutes. Really fast, in and out, hungry again.

Those whom have been critical of JB’s “Massive Eating” calculations fail to mention that it was really directed at the TRUE hardgainer FIRST…then had varied applications for others depending on their metabolism and/or goals.

I think that getting your diet down based on “Massive Eating” calculations and principals is first. Second is “progressive resistance” and really pushing yourself in the gym…and suprisingly enough, getting enough rest and recuperation commesurate with your workouts.

focus big on your diet, “ectomorph/metabolism”, if you aren’t growing you probably aren’t eating enough. you say you squat/dead etc and the legs are the same all the way down (same thigh as calve??)… i was a skinny guy couldnt gain, the only way i put on muscle was when i committed to my diet, eating very big.

weird way of eating that helped me: try to weight 6-7 lbs heavier every night than you do in the morning (eat alot before sleeping also)… or you can try some diets mentioned here on T-mag
