Wow Way to Go Jill!!!
Baby, you ain’t seen anger yet. I actually showed a good measure of restraint.
When I get angry, you’ll know it.
Why the fuck do you think I have a radioactive monster as my screen name.
Idiot
If Jilly thinks that only a “few insecure” men likes the typical glamour model kind of women when it comes to looks… well, get your head out of your big, squat-induced ass… ![]()
I work out a lot, I have a big ass and I love to be strong, but I don’t run around thinking that only a “few insecure” women tend to like the metrosexual and trendy kind of men… a group I don’t fit into… That ending ruined the entire post, beacause it shows that you seem to have the same insecurity that you attack…
When it comes to the fanboy-section below her post… Get a fucking life will you?
I admit that post in TC’s locker room was a joke to get a rise out of people. So sue me.
You know what raised my hackles about all the rubbish from so many following CW’s article? It was the underlying theme that somehow so many of you think you have a right to have questions answered promptly, to be looked upon as always desirable by everyone, to have everyone realize that your workout methods are the best way to go. You have no such rights or entitlements.
It is good practice to just be nice and respectful to people if for no other reason than maybe – just, maybe – you’ll get the same in return. But if you can not or will not be nice and respectful to someone who is giving their knowledge and wisdom to you FREE OF CHARGE, if you feel you must “look the gift horse in the mouth”, then how can you expect anything different in return?

“We realize that the health benefits, physical enjoyment and enhanced physiques more than compensate for the derision of a few insecure men.”
This is the quote. It does not say that that only insecure men like that type. I read it to say that some of the critisim is coming from a few insecure me.
Some dudes like Paris Hilton, and some dudes like fat chicks. Whatever floats your boat.
You should take your own advise.

Exactly as Christine pointed out, I think if you reread my post you will see that was not what I was saying.

At this point, I think you will need to point out the specific posts you are referring to since I don’t see that at all. Since you say there are so many of them, this shouldn’t be a problem.
I believe I was polite in my posts on the thread - I carefully worded my comments and observations and asked questions about the training parts that I didn’t understand since they conflicted with other things I have read here. Never did I complain about not receiving an answer, in fact Chad did directly answer one of my posts.

By “you” I did not mean specifically you, Jillybop. That is why I did not quote you. I was speaking in more general terms.
Now, onto what prompted me to write all this stuff in the first place…
Really? Even if that’s the ideal that some women want their PTs to train them to achieve? I don’t quite get your logic but OK…
Agreed.
Huh?
Good point.
Insulted that you read it for free?
(This is where I start going “uh-oh”.)
Disappointed over an article oriented towards other women? OK.
(Yellow alert!)
You can try to not allow yourself to be fed up by just closing your browser.
(Raise shields!)
(Red alert!)
(Fire phasors!)
Ah, finally some calm.
Really? I can’t believe you wrote that (and I’m not being sarcastic at all here – I’m more disappointed).
It seems to me that CW’s article hit a sore spot for many women – and many men for that matter. Instead of letting it go many responded by saying, in essence, that CW should never have printed such a thing. Many then allowed themselves to be dragged down into some kind of I-can’t-believe-society-still-thinks-this-way-of-women self pity.
Jillybop, you are the epitome of being a T-Vixen with great influence (hell, I would even say a leadership position) here in T-Nation and, I suspect, outside in your private life. So I was quite surprised when I saw a change in the tone of your writing that mirrored many other people’s. (No! No! Not Jillybop, too!)
I view you as being well above the level of getting emotionally upset by someone’s writing, and I bet there are many women here who are greatly influenced by what you say.

I had a few points of issue with the article, but they didn’t deal with the training aspect or concept of the female perspective.
However, in watching the debate, where women had every right to raise an eyebrow and ask some questions, I think I saw some men disliking the concept of women speaking up in general. I’m sure that added fuel to the fire.
Maybe if the ISSUES that the women raised had of been discussed by other posters instead of thrown aside, rejected or worse ridiculed, a more orderly discussion would have ensued.
It does take two sides to tango.
However, what really strikes me, is that there are very different ways to be critical of the article, and it seems everyone is stuck defending or attack from their own point of view, or what they ASSUME other people are concerned with.
I don’t have any issues with the program proposed. I don’t have any issues with the idea that different people have different goals. I don’t even presume to imagine that something Chad wrote won’t work as specified. I also don’t have any issues with notions of gender ideals and so forth.
However, I do still have some issues with the article. I’ve voiced them, they’ve been ignored, end of story. However, if I was a woman, I think I’d probably have gotten lumped into the issues or points of view I outlined above. It seems to me there was and is a massive “lumping” going on.
Nobody is reading close enough to get at what people are actually trying to say and addressing those facets. In particular, Jillybop has been singled out a number of times for things she hasn’t even said or done.
Pay attention to who is saying what and address those issues appropriately and maybe you won’t piss people off so damned much.
Finally, if it’s an article about women, and for women, allow them to have their own fucking opinions on whatever subject the article addresses already.

And where did any of the posts you quoted fit into the above description?
I’m not allowed to feel upset about an article that encourages women to strive for unrealistic body images and discourages them from heavy lifting? On T-Nation? If you truly can’t see why this article would upset me then I simply don’t know what to say.
I cannot put any more time or energy into this thread.

More than anything, if he truly has such a problem with what you wrote, why didn’t he confront the specific details of what was said instead of making up generalizations in a seperate thread later?
He tried to call me out on the first page with the same ridiculous crap. If you have a problem with something I wrote, confront that specific issue. Don’t make some lame generalization of everything I write in a completely different thread and attempt to write it off as pointing out everyone else’s faults. Apparently, bkgallo has quite a few of his own.
