Hi there I am a 20 year old male and train regularly. 8 months ago I have been developing some sore lower back issues which always increased in pain. Now I have pain in the posterior iliac spine and my hip keeps clicking mainly this provides a little comfort. I have pain when I pull both my knees up to my chest in the left posterior iliac spine, when driving and when contacting the abs while my buttocks are squeezed.
The clicking wont stop and occurs mainly when I squeeze my glutes, and pull my left leg forward. The pain is not intolerable but rather annoying and sometimes I wake up in the morning feeling very stiff like a truck ran over me especially while sitting on the toilet.
I have been stretching every muscle for almost 3 months and still the same pain. I went to physios and all state that its the SI dysfunction but their exercises aren’t working. Planks side planks stertches. Nothing no progress. I am stuck please help me!!!
optheta, its easy to tell you’ve never had to deal a back injury, because i can tell you straight up, dealing with my back injury(which really wasnt acute at all) was an extremly hard thing for me. So don’t be such a dick about it,injuries like this are extremly frustrating.
Op, i dont think i can give you any great advice, just to improve your mobility, and to foam roll and use a tennis ball to do some self myiofacisal release(do a search to get more on this)
another good peice of advice is to try not to let the injury bother you so much, do whatever you can to forget about the injury during the course of the day.
I remember over the summer i was given a reminder everyday at my shitty job(which i probably mostly hated because i was dealing with this injury)either way, it was the worst summer ever. I even became so obsessed with fixing it i started to keep a log of how it felt everyday and at exactly what times the pain would kick in/go away and how it felt. yes it was driving me completely insane. However, it was eventually time for me to move away to school. No more shitty summer job, fucking fun frosh week, somewhere in between it all my back pain had gone away.
Im not trying to mess with your head or anything, just realize there IS a big mental aspect to recovering from injuries. stay positive and try not to think about it too much.
ok that was a pretty long post, but i wantedto give some substance becasue i know how frustrating it can be.

I think this is the most important aspect in recovering from injury or any time of nagging pain.
I had the exact same thing where if I contracted my left glute my SI joint would pop. I kept doing birddogs till it stopped and lots of dynamic hip flexor stretches. My left SI joint would pop, it wouldn’t necessarily hurt but it did not feel right. I’d also recommend lunges. Anything to really get the glutes firing. Mix things up and try new stuff to see if it helps.
The thing that bothered me the most was rounding my lower back at all during anything. I remember on a lunge with dumbbells when I set them down I rounded hardly any and I paid for it.
Out of all the dumbass posts people make trying to be funny, lower back pain is not a laughing matter. You cannot imagine what it is like until you’ve been there.
I have a question along the same lines. I spent yesterday doing a lot of digging and work with a wheelbarrow.
How can you tell the difference between a weak lower back (which can cause pain), and a weak core (that shifts the load to the lower back and causes pain)?
Well, it depends. Your therapists should have told you witch parts of your body are to weak, and with are to tight. This are basics…
I have SI joint problems and a I am doing better and better.
I had (I still have) weak glutes, tight hip flexors plus some other minor issues. Your typical posterior pelvic tilt. But I can’t do your posture assesement… Maybe if you have posted a side pic…
OKay imback found out i have a lumbar herniated disk. Started rehabilitating my back with a lot of glute exercises, planks and side planks and back extensions with a 5kg dumbell while someone holds me from my leg. Any more exercises which I can do? Will the pain and sciatica dissappear or will the back remain damaged forever?
