To 'Aleve' or Not...

Alright, yesterday I did Front Squats and with what I would assume poor form (I think I let the weight come out too far and thus activated my abs too much). In addition I did some heavy deads. So I am chilling at work and my lower back aches, and so does my Abs and obliques. I simply can’t find a position of relative comfort.

Normally I abstain from pain killers, but I can’t bloody focus at work. So thoughts?

Here’s a thought:

I just googled for this but I know there were other studies done that have proven the same thing.

If you’re just experiencing muscle soreness then I would try stretching, hot baths, massage, light cardio, etc.

Thanks for the link. Read it, now I feel better that I did not indulge in the pain killers. But it sure as hell made this day feel long.

Good suggestions, I think I will go for the bath option when I get home. Got no suckers for the massage, and simply walking hurts.

My roommates fiance does epsom salt baths, whats the deal with the salt?

I’m not sure how it works, but the epsom salt baths are really great. Maybe the magnesium is absorbed effectively in a hot bath and therefore relaxes the blood vessels and muscle fibers.

Personally, I’d take the Aleve. Not for DOMS but for lower back muscle strain. Ab pain, no.

you can certainly tough it out if you can, I know I do as much as possible, but when you screw up your lower back, a bath only helps so much. Booze helps too, but that’s up to you.
