Tiny Freak

Thanks to all for the chinup encouragement and general kind words.

Once the blizzard abated yesterday, I drove to the gym for my workout. No resolutioners. No people hardly at all. It was bliss! Although I did take it easy on foot-wrecking exercises, I was heartened to discover that none of this caused any foot pain. My ART girl cleared me to run on it, but given the blizzard that isn’t likely to happen for a few days unless I break down and hit the treadmill again.

Although I was scheduled to start Wave 1 of another 5/3/1 cycle, I ended up not wanting to jump right in on deadlifts. Perhaps I’ll do a mix of training this month and start up the 5/3/1 again next month. We’ll see.

Military Presses
Bar 2 x 5
51# 1 x 7 <–money set, not a PR but decent

RDLs
65# 1 x 10
85# 1 x 10
95# 1 x 10

Held up some weight on my tweaky foot and all was well. Encouraging, but I wasn’t ready to put my foot in sumo position quite yet.

Dips
+25 lbs. 1 x 8, 1 x 3

I’ve never really felt dips in my shoulders before, but last night I felt some stiffness. So backed off and will try again another day.

Low Cable Row – V grip
55# 1 x 10
70# 3 x 10

Glute kick-back machine
100# 1 x 10
110# 1 x 10

Machine Flyes
55# 1 x 10

Roman chair, straight leg raises
1 x 10

These were pretty easy, I’m guessing because my core was stabilized for me by the equipment. Real live hanging leg raises are another story altogether.

Its interesting using the equipment that I NEVER use. Shaking things up a little can never be bad, but I do miss the deadlifting.

Its good to mix things up…keeps things interesting. Interesting about the dips…I always feel them in my shoulders, which is I don’t do them.

glad you are feeling better…

I’m doing what I consider an intermediate exercise. Get in dip position and lift legs straight out till parallel with floor. Hold. Repeat. These are challenging for me. Lemme know how you like 'em.

Kimba: I’m glad the foot is well. That’s awesome that you can do the roman chair leg raises so well…the hanging ones will come soon I’m sure.

Strong work Kim, it’s hard to believe you’re 110 sometimes.

I love using new stuff, especially the DOMS

Is it wrong that I’m STILL afraid to use the roman chair after what happened the last time I used it…awkward!

Smart move waiting a little bit more before jumping into the heavy DLs again. If you have to question it, its probably smart not to do them.

Hm…low cable row? I’ll have to look these up.

Agreed, shaking things up can never be bad! Good stuff Kimba!

Not sure what I find to be sexier, you in your jeans or those dips! Both are H.A.W.T!

I was just telling this dark haired beauty that I find all of you ladies incredibly sexy not just w/your bodies but your minds as well. To all you ladies, & though I don’t post in every thread, I do lurk. All of you are inspirations to girls, ladies, women, of all ages.

EDIT- 1 more thing, I love love love the pic in the opening of this thread Kimba.

EDIT- #2… Go J.E.T.S!!!

Glad to hear your foot is feeling better!

those jeans are fantastic! or the bum in them I should say!

Lifting looked good. I’m looking forward to thsoe running pants.

Betty, you are great at mixing up your own training so I’m just following your lead.

Snapper, I tried the dip position leg raises today. Got 10 of them, and found them challenging but not NEARLY as hard as the hanging kind. Easier than the roman chair thing. How many can you do?

Nadia, I really thank you for pointing out to me via your example where I was weak. I’m all about the correcting of the weaknesses.

Nikki, I’ve sure got the DOMS today. Details to follow.

Maschy, WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME???

print, just when I think I am not a compliment-whore, I realize that I’m a total compliment-whore. Thank you. I’m overlooking the jets comment in the interests of regional harmony.

LastStand, me too!

Ha ha, was it the infamous Roman Chair orgasm?

Kimba - you always rock your workouts and I’m pleased that your foot is getting much better.

I wanna do dips like you when I grow up.

abt the RCO- I can, and have, gotten away with murder at my local… still not sure i wanna try that thing, tho. People follow me around enough as is.

Gotta get in that Roman chair more often.

I am clueless about the chair story?!?
plz do tell.

timyo, thanks for the kind words!

Cal, me too!

RCO – honestly, bring it on.

On a limited time, dial-up situation:

Yesterday’s training was all good on the foot.

Squats
Bar 1 x 5
65# 1 x 10
75# 1 x 10
85# 1 x 10
90# 1 x 10
75# 1 x 10
65# 1 x 10

All good, 90# was a little hard.

Machine flyes
some for some

Dips
BW 1 x 15

Walking lunges
15s 1 x gym circuit

DB curls to houlder press
12.5# 1 x 15

Sumo Goblet squats
35# DB 1 x 15

Foot felt OK in this position

Side Planks with reach under
1 x 20 each side

Then 1 hour hard shoveling.

Today’s training was 3.1 miles on the treadmill, at 5.8 (10:20 min/mile pace) took 33 minutes. I was so excitied to be running again, but the streets are too snowy for it to be outside. My foot feels a bit used, but not hurty at all. Resting for the remainder of the day and hitting the snowshoe trail tomorrow.

Glad the foot is holding up, nice run!
