Hel- Great to have you back. I was a lurker, but frequent reader, when your absence began. I was beginning to get concerned.
With good reason…water moccasins are nothing to trifle with.
Sorry to hear that Hel, about 10 years ago I got bitten by a tiny copperhead and it sucked pretty bad. A cottonmouth would be much worse I imagine.
Hope thigns go well from here on out.
Bama sure is full of snakes.
Hel
glad your back, sorry to hear about the snake…
good luck with recovery

BTW - did the snake get sick?

I’m wagering that Hel took care of him. If not, I feel confident the dynamite did…lol.
welcome back. both Hel and Doc return on the same day. Most propitious indeed!

Thanks to all for the warm welcome back. My workout’s are going to focus mainly on getting ready for the track and scottish games season. First track meet is right around the corner and I’ve put in almost no throws training so far this year. My goal for the first meet is to show up. Second meet is 2 weeks later and hope to improve on the first meet. First scottish game is 20 June and lining up sveral more after that. Still looking for the following numbers before the summers out. 405-405-540 before the summers out.
Just getting back and walking my mail route took a lot out of me the last couple of days. Got the the gym right after work and did shoulders/bicep. Ain’t listing no poundages.
My wife has pointed out one positive aspect of this lastest mishap. Been sleeping 8/9 hours every night.
Mr Skid, snake died about 1 second after I grabbed it. Kept the front half for the hospital to examine.

Did you crack the whip or just tear his head off with your bare hands?

I know the fate of Mr Moccasin well. I had a guy that worked on our timber harvesting crew. Operated the tree cutter. One day I watched this 5’7" tall 235 rock solid man; jump off the machine and on a dead run grab a Dismal Swamp timber rattler with his bare hands and rip him half in two. His only words were “I hate a GD snake”…
Glad your back and training. Good luck on the meets.
Grab both ends, twist both wrist down, pull.
Had a rare good day of weather yesterday so went straight to the college after work. Well rounded work out. Shot and discus both sucked equally. Equilibrium still off so did mainly standing throws. Absolutely zero explosion in the throws.
This morning
Legs/back
Very long work day tomorrow. It’s the National Letter Carriers Food drive so give up them can goods you’ve had sittin in the pantry all year.
Nasty bite hel! That sucker gotcha good huh? Glad things are better.
hel,
YOU ARE MY HERO !!! You’re back in action with a a couple of fang marks visible…I had to show my wife who’s been around snakes all her life(me, just rats and cockroaches in NYC) & she said you must have been in some pain and that you were lucky you didn’t have a bad reaction to the bite. Glad you’re back to work and gym…goals for 1st meet should be ‘easy’ to meet(no pun); after that, skies the limit. Best of luck to you in your T&F endeavors.
Yesterday,
1000s x 4,8,12,16,24,32 oz. cans, jars, boxes, and assorted food items.
The food drive went real well and I’m pretty sure we beat last years total. Had to unload my truck 4 times. Should I post that in that PR thread?
Real early this morning
0330: Chest/tris, lifting still weak.
0500: Waffle House (eat and pickup roses I hid there. One of my cousins owns it)
0600: as the sun was coming up, shot and discus
0730: Roses and card on the table when the wife got up
1200: Big shindig planned at brothers place for mothers day.
Good Times!

Get to the college track yesterday to get some throwing in. The local summer youth teams that usually practice there are all standing around and the gates are chained shut. Seems the head track coach has unilaterally decided no one other than the college team can use the newly re-done track. So you’ve got about a 100 kids, their volunteer coaches, and some really pissed off old guys, standing around. Bad move on the college’s part. State school, federal money and local donations for track re-do, really bad PR, etc… Local TV station’s meeting with the President today to find out what’s up. I think the atheletic gods are against me this year. Screw em. Gonna do good to spite em.
Nice work Snakeman! Damn nice pulling.
I just thought of an alternate thread title (inspired by Skidmark’s):
“The Saga of the Snake Charming Alabamano”
or “Brutal Snakeplicity”
How about “Herpecidal Tendencies?”
“Ophidian Bigotry?” - “I hate snakes, Jacque! Hate 'em!”
10,000 unemployed comedians…(How about “Pumping Venom”)? Hope all my little friends are gone. We start work on a new dock this Sunday.
