That's Just Harry

I’m gonna make another run at this.
Brief intro. 58 years old, 233# tonight, 6’2". I throw things and in an attempt to throw things far(ther) I lift weights. I swim competitively several times a year in Masters (old folks) comps. Usually the 500m and 200M freestyle and breaststroke. I use to frequent this forum religiously but after several members left and I got busy at other things I fell off posting.

So, why come back? I miss sharing the lifting experience with mature adults who actually understand what I’m talking about and don’t think, “you need to start actin’ your age” is constructive advise. What can you expect from my posts? Frankly, not a lot of new and cutting edge info on lifting and next to nothing on diet.

Lots of bad grammar and I do tend to ramble on sometimes about things not necessarily related to lifting. If, by chance your into T&F or Highland Games I’m pretty knowledgeable in these areas.

I divide my lifting into chest/legs, shoulders/tri, and back/bi and on the 4th day I try to get throwing or swimming in and then start over. Not really into deloads unless life intrudes.
So, let’s kick this off.
Tonight, Back/bi

Thought I only had 2 more Highland Games but I just added a 3rd and doing the Tennessee Senior Olympics both in T&F and swimming come September.

Welcome back Hel. I caught some of your jokes in another thread. I’ll be looking forward to reading your work and your ramblings!

How long have you been a Ramblin’ Man?..

Glad you’re back to lead the young 'uns Harry.

You gotta start act’n ur age ol man. Lol! Hashtag dumbyouth

No really, that’s awesome! You got 11 years on me and I would pop something trying to chuck those things. I’m in PA and there is a Celtic Festival each year. I love it when someone says, “You can do that”. I’'ll stay off the field and stick to the beer tent!

I am very happy to have you back! I always admired your attitude and lifts Harry!

Welcome back, Harry. Looking forward to your musings on training, life and other crap.

Boredom is a terrible thing elder cousin.

I left because Harry left. I’m not coming back until Carl Darby does…

Scotto, I gave up on my quest for Shakira for a more attainable woman but she went an married some nobody billionaire prince from England and she’s about to have a baby so I’m looking again.
Thanks Wiex, nice arm, forearm looks huge.
“Lord, I was born a rambling man,” punnyguy.

Let’s start a come back Carl Darby thread, that guy was amazing and so humble considering he was one of the top masters O lifters in the USA.

Nice to see you back Harry. I always enjoyed your log and your witty ripostes.

Those numbers are seriously awesome! That’s where I’m at on a good day benching. I couldn’t picture myself holding those numbers for the next 10 plus years.

Ya, that’s me. I take 2 lay-offs from lifting a year for about a 2 weeks a clip. One is always scheduled around the archery season.

Thanks niksamaras, the only clan that would have me is clan MacBubba and they ain’t real picky on who they take. You look ripped in the avatar.
Thanks Cav and doublelung.

What do you think supports the shot and discuss more, Press or Incline Bench?

Thanks Joe. I just left off posting for a while. I was still lifting and competing.
There’ve been endless discussions on that, John. IMHO, of the 2 lifts you listed, inclines.

Off tomorrow, try to swim and throw weather permitting.

Woke to thunder and lightning around 0500. Weather eased off enough to get a 1500m swim in. Temp was in the low 80’s and river running a little high and fast. Going out the first half was quick and easy but then had to come back slow and hard.

135,225 wu
275x2

355x1

Squat

355x4
375x3
395x2

That’s it. Had to be somewhere last night, had to work late. Had to cut my workout short.

Wow, that beats the hell out of swimming in pool. Do you live close to the river?
