This Thing We Do

Besides practicing the events, is there anything you do specifically to train any of the events in the highland games?

Just rescuing you from page 2. Hope everything is going well with you.

Hope no recent posts isn’t a “bad sign!” Hope you and yours are just fine & that you are too busy with your life to post. Best to you and yours as always,

We are missing your particular sense of humor and tales of your exploits as well as your company, Hel.

I sincerely hope that everything is all right in your neck of the woods.

You’re not going to pull a Doc on us I hope. We can’t keep lossing all the great ones, you’re missed. Hope all is well!

Please all accept my apology. It has been very rude of me not to have posted anything. Truth is I haven’t lifted or thrown anything for about a month. Much of my time has been spent sitting on my ass with my leg up. We often refer to being snake bit, meaning unlucky, but in my case I mean it, literally.

Right after my wife got back from the Philippines I was helping my nephew rebuilt his dock. Stepped down into the mud to chainsaw an old section off and thought I’d snag my leg on a nail. Second strike stung like hell and I knew that feeling. Cottonmouth. Grabbed the little bastard before he could hit me again. Only about a 2 footer.

Long story short, got to the hospital, CroFab, antivenom, injects worked at preventing any necrosis but went through some major swelling and stiffening. Real weak. Been sitting at a desk doing admin stuff at work and finally got back on my route yesterday.

Today was my first day back at the gym. Did a little benching and chest. Leg is still tender but all the swelling and pain is gone.
Thanks to all who have PMed me. Sorry I haven’t kept up on things. Too depressing to read about all the good lifting when you can’t even stand up.

One of my brothers solved the old dock removal, possible cottonmouth bed problem. Dynomited the whole river bank.

Leg workout for about a week

Glad you’re back.

Holy crap. That’s it I’m never crossing the 49th paralell. I always tell people the farther south the worse the bites.

That great you’re ok, the dynomite was a right thing to do totally behind you on that one. Now this is going to be on my mind all day. I need to get up and walk around. Again I’m so happy to hear you’re ok. Stay strong brother.

Good to see you back hel!

Awww, MAN!

Good to see you’re OK!!

I went to school in New Mexico. We had our share of rattlesnake and black widow encounters, luckily none involved actually getting bit

Quick recoveries!

Dammit to Hell, hel!! You are one lucky guy… Those cotton mouths are thick as thieves here this year too. I have killed 4 in my yard so far this spring.

I’m glad you are getting back in the saddle. I know those snake bite are slow healing. Be safe big guy!

You gotta start living a life that has only boring stories in it…

or else your wife is gonna be mad at you.

If you gave me 1000 tries to guess why you haven’t posted, snake bite wouldn’t have been one of them. Glad you’re ok.
