This Thing We Do

Hey Jimmy, hope you’re enjoying some time at home with the family and getting some lifting in. Haven’t heard from 63Galaxie in a while. Hope he’s doin ok,too.
Mjnewland, I’ve probably competed in 6 or 7 games. Didn’t do any last year, was busy with T&F and the near meetings weren’t held. HT has the most experience in the games but he got hurt last year in one. Let me know if you need links to making some home made implements. They cost a damn fortune to buy. Check out victoria secrets, too, great line of push up bras.

Going to be taking my gym gear with me to work everyday this week just in case I can drag myself to the gym after work. Looks like it’s going to be 6 straight 12 hour days with cold and rain projected for at least the next 3. Love the holiday season!

at least it doesn’t snow in Alabama! I got over a foot at my house in the last 3 days.

ps, listen, can you hear it, the ghr? it says come see me…

Hit the gym at around 8pm. Pre work out meal, large coffee. Plan was to add 5# to bench every session and raise the deads but just couldn’t manage it last night so went into cruise control. Got up this morning starving and realized I’d neglected to eat yesterday. Sitting here eating a whole box of Rice Krispys right now. Not sure if the snap, crackle, pop is the cereal or me.
mj, I’m saying something to the ghr, too, and it ain’t printable.

Have a blessed holiday.

You, too, Barry and everyone else.

Just managed a quick leg workout after work yesterday. Did remember to eat, though. Friend sent me this cute christmas story. I’ve got weird friends.
A Christmas Story for people having a bad day:

Four of Santa’s elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.
Then Mrs Claus announced her Mother was coming to visit, stressing Santa even more.
When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out.
When he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.
Frustrated, Santa went to the house for a cup of cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drank all the rum. Frustrated, he dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of pieces. He went to get the broom and found mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.
Just then the doorbell rang, and irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.
The angel said very cheerfully, ‘Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn’t this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?’
And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.
Have a good day.

Youre going to Hel for that one!

hel-saw on skids thread you asked about training your deadlift off the floor and training thru that sticking point. If you deadlift conventional style, you can lay a 100# plate on the floor and stand on it and pull.I do not recommend going heavy but 60%-70%.It will help your power breaking it off the floor.Merry Christmas to you and the family.

Well Hel320, another year of throwing heavy things around has come to an end. You are a pillar on this site. So let it be known you are appreciated.

The coming year is open for suggestions. I can only hope that your best day last year will be your worst in the coming year.

Staying strong is the goal, but it is time to take a look at all the wonderful things in your life. I know you are strong with family and friends. This gives you so much to reflect back on. I do wish you and all of yours the absolute best.

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year.

I’m back because my computer is retarded.

Actually I just enjoy hanging out on your thread. Stupid F’n computer, I’m going back to bed!

Thanks to all for the season’s greetings. Finished my 6 day 72 hour week up last night. The holiday decorations on all the houses really help get me in the spirit. Have to go right through the middle of town to get back to the station and the whole town is lit up with christmas lights.

I’ve also accumulated a vast assortmnet of chocolate goodies, peanut brittle, cookies, and a wide variety of alcoholic beverages as presents from people on my route.
Started off the day early this morning at the gym.

Followed that up with a nice long sauna to sweat out all the bad stuff. Cooked my world famous breakfast at the Vets home. When the wife headed out with some sisters-in-law to stimulate the economy settled down to watch A christmas Carol and a nap. Good day.

Hope everyone else is having a good holiday season and I’ll be back to making my insightful and meaningful posts soon.

I hope you and your family have a safe and happy Christmas. Looking forward to the insightful post.

If they give out free booze and candy, I want to be a mailman too!

So that’s how it is. While the lowly, over worked and under paid civil servant is out toiling away you guys are hitting the gym. Existing on a steady diet of coffee, chocolate, cookies, and every form of homemade goody has managed to help me keep up with the taunting task.

So hell week, postal version, is mostly over and I’ve been managing to get in a little lifting. Nothing to brag about but enough to keep me from wasting away. Had a great talk with Barry the other night. Re-inspired me to hit the weights even harder. Hitting the gym at 0 dark 30 tomorrow morning and hopefully getting back on schedule. Hope all had a great Christmas and Santa was good to you.

Good day of lifting. For the first time got all my fingers and thumbs around the bar. Decided to start raising the weight on these.

Quick question as you frequently hit the gym early AM. Even though I am an early riser(usually up before 6am), I never feel all my cylinders firing if I go to the gym before 10am.

I have never hit a PR early AM even when I tried. And shower, food, coffee never helped. Same with you?

hel,

You still have that combination of wit, humor, insight, life experience, and a nice way about putting them into words so that people like myself can get a little chuckle and and insight to what makes you tick!
Keep up the good work; it has always been appreciated by me. Best to you & yours!
Art

FF, I don’t have any problem lifting heavy in the morning. I quess all the years in the military have pretty much got me use to going from full asleep to full awake with no transition. Drives my wife crazy. The only 1 rep max I wouldn’t do early is the bench and that’s because there’s usually no one in the gym early morning I’d trust to spot me.
Thanks Art, I think our little forum here is unique in that we get to know a little bit about each other aside from the lifting.

The strange amounts on the deadlift are because of Barry J. My weak point in he dead is at the beginning so he suggested I use 35s. Puts the bar an inch or so lower. Can feel the difference.

Great DL numbers, hel!
