That was too good.
What is more amazing in the story is that thier squat form didn’t suck!
I just found this thread and have spent most of the afternoon reading through it. I am impressed by two things. First, you are very strong. You deadlift weights I can barely roll across the platform. Second, you are a thrower! There dosen’t seem to be too many of us around.
Some time back you were wondering if you should spend some time with the"scoot" technique. My recommendation is don’t. Give the spin more time. It took me 5 years working on my own until it started to click. Just remember a few things to work on.
Slow to fast. The fast doesn’t even need to be that fast as long as the implement is always accelerating.
Balance out of the back. Torso should be vertical coming out of the back and through the middle of the ring. No amount of cranking the right foot in the middle will do much good otherwise.
Be patient with the arm strike. The lower body needs some time to do its work. Let it work and wait. To a very large degree throwing shot is not a push. It is mostly a pull.
I also wanted to say that the “What I learned from TV” post was hilarious.
Best of luck with the BB hel320.In your new avatar, you look like you’re getting pretty lean already.
Thanks for the input Carl. I’m probably gonna stick with the rotation. Always have had a problem with being to quick with the arm stike, even way back when I was glider. Everytime I look at my vids of throwing the shot I’m like, damn I’m moving a lot slower than I thought. I’m also doing some more light weight throwing this year to work on speed. My distance difference between the 16 and 6k is very small and I’m thinking this may help some.
The only things missing from the curls was a workout log and a copy of Flex, awesome shit.
Looking real good, Hel. I see you use several Hammer machines. They have some in one gym I go to. May have to give them a try.
Hey barry, think I’m going to get me some of the old baggy clown pants and and one of the tank tops with the spagetti straps. Be ready for my photo shoot then. AARP centerfold of the month.
Geech, love the hammer equipment. Incline bench is my favorite and they got some great seated row machines, too.
Got so excited talking to another thrower forgot to put my workout from last night.
Exact same as the last bench tri night. Going to stay the same until I don’t get DOMS then I’ll add weight and/or change exercises. Real scientific,eh.

AARP centerfold, I’m fucking blessed to know you. If you carry the current copy of Flex to the gym, I’m good for dinner. What a Kodak moment. You’re the best. One day, let’s throw something. I’ve done a lot of govt packaging of shit you have used. Bless you my friend. As always a quote to a buddy:

Don’t forget the doo-rag for your melon.
Love those HS machines - I can see why Dorian Yates endorsed them.
Been trying to avoid this but with my new lifting routine can’t. Like to do legs on a day off or after work. Busy tonight so hit the gym at 0345 this morning. Now I get to go out and walk all day. I’ll see how this works out.
Early this morning
Squat
135x12,185x8,225x10x4
Leg ext
140x12x4
leg curl
80x12x4
calve raise
110xMax x5
AIDED Pullups
4x12,4x12 (different grips)
Seated cable rows
110wu,150x12x4
shrugs
225xMax x4
Last night
Weight: 237
Hammer BTN press
90wu, 180x12x4
Cable Lateral raises
40x10x4
Rear delt raises (machine)
110x12x4
Face pulls
90x10x4
Ez curl
bar +60 x10x4
straight bar curls
85x10x4
cable rope curls
90x10x4
reverse curls
40x10x4
Gonna start alternating the BTNs with Front presses and then some DB presses. Have noticed something on biceps. Never get DOMS in them. May have to try some heavy weight/low rep days on them.

I think I admire how you do things even more than what you do.
The 6 pack abs coming through? You been liking the change in your routine?
Thanks Geech. Last few porches I had to climb that day sure seemed to have more steps than the day before.
No 6 pack yet, eco. Think I caught a glimpse of a 2 litre, though. As for the new routine. I keep getting to the end feeling like I should do more. Kinda look around the gym like, “guess I’m finished”. I’m doing more reps, sets, and exercises and I do some ab work after every workout and sometimes in the morning. Just not getting that satisfied, good workout feeling. Might have to throw in a just lift heavy shit day. Maybe put some deadlifts in on back day.
Last night, good long swim. This morning as the sun was coming up, out throwing the shot. It’s Carls fault, he got me all pumped up and I couldn’t wait. Now that the need to throw is back I guess I’ll focus on bodybuilding, powerlifting, throwering, swimming, and occasionally trying to O Lift. Ain’t specialization great.

Heavy/Light is a time-honored strategy that works great for building strength and mass. Go for it.

You’re welcome. I’ll try to be there the next time you feel too specialized. Martial arts anyone?

This forum can at times be very motivational. Like reading this stuff I have no clue about.
