I’m catching up on threads as well! Hope all is well with you & yours!
Enjoy your Boy and tell him I said Thank you his service and dedication.
On the swimming thing? When will we learn that we are on the down side of that hill???
Thanks QT, we’re all doing great.
Skid, no speedos. My boys, and even my wife, make fun of my swimming trucks. They’re functional, not chic.
Thanks Colin, told him. He’s now A CRO, Combat Rescue Officer, 13DXA (PJ officer). Going back to Lackland for about a week, doesn’t have to go through the pipeline again, then down to Florida for briefings and then back over, again. Hill? Halfway through swimming against him it felt like Mt Everest. Damn, it’s hard to remember ever being able to swim like that! If I had beat him I’d be on the phone to PJ HQ asking what they’ve done to the training program.
Watched my son leave on a plane today. Made me wonder how me times he had to watch me go off. Wished I was going with him. First time in a long time I’ve felt old.
Godspeed to your son and your family.

Indeed, Godspeed to you and to your son, Godspeed.
Thanks to all for the well wishes.
Time to change things up a little. Til I figure out what I really want to do I’ve decided to try a little BB. See if all these theories I’ve been reading on here work.
Diet will be a big problem but I’m working on that. Even changed my avatar to reflect my new direction. Hopefully I can get some pictures for before and after. Just can’t bring myself to ask anyone I know to take pictures of me trying to flex.
Routine:
Shoulders/Bi
Chest/Tri
Legs/ back
abs after each workout
cardio: swimming
Starting weight this morning: 241
Shoulders/bi day
Standing press
135x12x4
EZ Curl bar(?)
+70x8x4
Lat Raises
30x8x4
Straight bar curls
75x10x4
Face pulls
100x10x4
Cable rope curls
90x10x4
Rear lat (machine)
100x12x4
Reverse curls (ez bar)
+30x8x4
I 'spect you will have good fun with this program. Yep the diet is a bitch! I’m not body building and its a bitch for me.
I have no doubt you will get a handle on the diet aspect.

With your new split mentioned above, do you have a certain rep range you’re going for, or are you just going to mix it up? Where do you find that you make the most progress?
Looking forward to seeing what you bring in to play here, Hel.
So am I Geech, uncharted territory.
Steely, right now I’m pretty well experimenting. Going to try to eventually stay in the higher rep range (for me) say 10-12. Have never really worked on bb.
Some of the exercises, like a lot of bi work, are also new to me so I have to find my strength level on these. Certain body parts strength/development wise are way out of proportion to others. Fornt delts are way out of proportion to side and back. Hope to dial it in after a couple of weeks.
Are you planning on gaining weight back or are you concentrating on reshaping what you’ve got?
You’ve got an awesome frame for getting up to lean 260/280 should you choose to do so.

Ditto this.
You don’t look like you have a lot to trim off, fat wise. I expect all your walking and swimming has done you good in that area.
Are you going to still include the compound lifts in the routines and then add some accessory stuff?
Can’t wait to see what you put together. Details on your diet would also be interesting (foods, calorie levels, frequency).
First I’m adding new lifts for muscles I haven’t hit directly. Probably will drop back on the big compound lifts for a while. Not planning on gaining weight but if I lose body fat and still gain no problem.
I still make strength gains pretty easy but not sure how much or how easy it will be to add a lot of muscle mass at 53. May end up just shaping what I’ve got. Biggest problem is eating right.
Very hard to keep food that needs refrigerating in my mail truck all day. Somedays I hit the street and literally don’t stop for 6 1/2 hours. Good news is as winter comes on our trucks stay as warm in winter as they do cool in summer.
They don’t. So hopefully an ice chest will keep pre made food cold for a while. Like I said, this is some uncharted territory for me so I’ll probably be changing and modifing as I go. Thanks to all for the interest.

Finally have a curling in the squat/power rack story to tell, kinda of. Friday night, see 2 young guys doing squats. They’re going totally ass to grass with a pause. Good form and weight. This other guy goes over to the other power rack and does some curls. I see them watching him and pointing. Ok, now I’m sure they read this site. Can’t help myself. Hitch up my shorts for my best Erkel imitation, go to the power rack, put a 2.5lb on each side. Start doing my best power clean, swing, curls with accompanying grunts. Do 3 reps. Put the bar down breathing hard, flexin the guns. Few minutes later I figure the guys have got their posts all ready in there heads so I walk over. “Now when you post this on T-Nation, be sure to start with, This astonishingly handsome old guy.”. A blank stare and then the light dawned. Yeah, they hang out on here. Good kids. They said the shorts were funnier than the curls.
That’s just too funny hel! Did you give them your handle and tell them to look in the Over 35 area for the story?

I laughed my ass off with this story. I see your pullups are now aided. I guess there is no confusion with them now.
You’ve turned into a bodybuilder. Albert Beckles was over 60 and was huge. I bet you beef up real quick with all you’re doing.
Yeah dog I did. Told them to PM me if they read it. We’ll see.
Just gonna get pretty for a while, eco. Could never be in a bodybuilding meet anyway. Too many scars. Still gonna throw next year so we’ll see how long I stay with this before the lure of the big lifts call me back.
