This Thing We Do

Geech, Separately. On the mil press, clean the weights once, then do just the presses.
Thurs
Deads & Back stuff
Last Night
Bench & Chest stuff

Received a couple of PMs I haven’t answered, sorry about that. Had a few bad days. Every now and then ghosts come to visit me. I’ve managed to accumulate a lot over the years. Grenada, Somalia, Rawanda, Congo, Haiti, all the Balkans, Desert Storm, South America, etc. I don’t sleep a lot regularly and they make it real hard to sleep at all. I deal with them by killing myself in the gym and swimming til exhaustion sets in.

Doc could probably make some comments on the sanity of this. Know a lot of guys turned to the bottle and drugs which I refuse to do and have a wife and family who wouldn’t let me anyway. The ghosts said goodbye again last night while I was out at the river bank with my dogs. Yeah, I can tell when they leave. Dogs understand this kind of thing real good. So enough of this weird ass part of the post.

Went to the gym this morning and did a whole bunch of ancillary stuff for the arms. Took a nice long sauna to sweat out the bad stuff afterwards. Labor day picnic at big brothers house this afternoon so there goes the diet I don’t have anyway. Everyone enjoy the weekend.

Welcome back bud.

The gym is essential for my mental health.Glad to hear your doing better.

I can vouch for that. One of my dogs is the poster child for Autistic dogs. He has issues of his own. Big issues. Over the years I’ve had a lot of dogs, but he’s taught me more than all of them put together. He tests my patience daily. But he’s got good intuition and he always knows when I’ve got the “blues.” For some strange reason that makes him uncharacteristically sweet and gentle, which melts my heart because I know how far out on a limb he has to climb to be that way. It’s hard to stay down when you see your “kids” tryin’ so hard to break through your gloom.

Glad you’re feeling yourself again … even if that doesn’t sound right…

Man, does that bring back some great memories: I lived with my adult son and daughter for various periods of time between 1998 and 2006; my son’s boxer always knew when I was upset or down in the dumps and would be right there to cheer me up. My daughter has a boxer too, not quite as intuitive, but still lovable and eager to please. Every once in a while you need a good dog to raise your spirits.

Early yesterday morning

Full cleans to sitting on a bench, then up
135wu,185x6,205x4,225x2x2
DB press
50x12,55x10,60x10,65x8
Lateral Raises
40x8x4
Face pulls
80x12x4
Straight from the gym to the river. Good swim.

A note about Fridays chest night. I’ve never done cable crossovers. Always considered them a bodybuilding only lift. Have seen a lot of yawl doing them so I said what the hell. Common sense says start light and do a few. Yeah right. Felt them damn things all weekend.

I likes that.

Labor day is definately bad for diets. I ate enough this weekend to feed 3 people. As always you’re looking strong.

Regarding the ghosts. Go to the mirror. Look at that guy. He’s a stud. Remember that! End of story, ROCK THE FUCK ON!

I have to go back to the office after I work out.

Your way is better.

Thanks eco. Geech, you just came off a month long vacation! You got to work a little bit.
Barry, you always make me feel better. (Except when I read you’re back workouts and they make me sore.) Thanks.

0400 this morning:
Squats
135x8,185x8,225x8,245x8,275x6
Leg ext
130x10x4
leg curls (new)
60x8x4 (damn I’m weak on these!)
calve raises
220x Max x 4 (machine thingy)

There’s a very well put together young lady who’s at the gym every morning. Kind gives spandex a good name. She works at a business on my mail route so I know her pretty well. This morning we’re both doing leg curls together. After her turn, she says, “I can’t keep my butt down when I do these. Maybe I’m using too much weight.”
“Didn’t notice.”
Ok, I’ll go to confession for that one.

That remark was uncalled for. Getting paid while not working agreed with me.

Squats continue to shoot up; I am sure that part of the hamstrings will catch up with the rest quickly, cause those leg curls are no indication of your clean and DL strength.

Being married I never notice the hotties walking around.

Thats funny soldog.

hel-I am psyched about your squats.

Thanks Jimmy, my shoulder flexibilty is holding me back. I want to try some heavier weight. Can’t get the bar down to the lower position on my back and the weights just don’t feel secure.

When I try all the normal stretching my left arm just stops. I’ll keep at it cause I’d really like to go after some full powerlifting meets.

The bar position is important.I was thinking that the feel of the bar on your back is still new to an extent. In time your bar position will become comfortable even if its not as low as you would like it.I have no doubt you will squat some big weight.
